  • List of rocks in Western Australia

I found a list on Wikepedia of rocks in Western Australia and thought some on here might be interested in it. I often read about some isolated rock some where that someone has just visited which then has me wondering how do you find out where these places are and how do you get there (the winter nights fly by in my house).

The list on Wikepedia also includes co ordinates, so I guess you could copy and paste them into Google Earth or enter it into your GPS and then set off to find them. The only problem I have these days is trying to find the time to get out and explore some of these places.

    Here is a linkhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...tern_Australia

I'm not sure if the rest of the country has any such lists.

    Interesting list ...........

.... there's also lists of WA National Parks, watercourses, homesteads, roadhouses and heaps of others.

    Cheers

Looks great, I'll keep that in mind when I get over there sometime. Unfortunately nothing like that for Vic really.

Yeah, been up it twice. Mount Augustus is bigger  and probably took more out of me than your rock at the end of the day. Once up Mount Augustus is enough, I'd do Ayers Rock again anytime.

Hey NTP I think I know where the rock is in the NT! And not the big red one.......  Just having a laugh mate

Some of the rocks here have really good campsites apparently. I was told recently that Elachbutting rock has a very nice camping area and has similar wave formations that Wave rock has. Popular with 4x4 clubs if you read the blab about it. It's been on my list for a few months now. Is that one listed??

I think Elachbutting is officially known as Elachbutting Hill, so its not a rock..... and not on the list.

When ever we plan a trip away I always look for a rock out crop or water course/hole, it makes for more a interesting campsite, especially out in the goldfields. Theres always a bit of history involving the early explorers and rocks in WA as generally rocks and water go hand in hand.
