Tvan for hire in WA

Hi all,

This is just a question for PP members living in WA. I have seen that various people are looking at hiring campers to go to the GTG in July. This doesn't apply to those dates because we will be going ourselves
BUT
I have a Tvan that spends most of its time in the shed at my place in York. Are there people out there who might like to hire it for trips away?

Other than covering our costs I do not want to make money out of this idea and I would donate any nett revenue that we received to the RFDS whose services hopefully we will never need but should be thankful that they exist. BTW I am a pilot and I know the organisation quite well.

Welcome aboard Mike.

If our WA trip can get a few more trips together we may even wind up doing some more extended camping trips .... then the T-van won't have to sit in the shed for so long :lol: :lol: :lol:

... but that's a really generous offer, for the times that it sits idle, and I love your choice of recipient. The RFDS deserve all the help they can get.

Hi Mike. The offer is great & on the surface it makes sense to get full use out of it, even keep the bearings turning etc. However, please check carefully with your insurer first because if they get wind that you are hiring it out, you may void your cover altogether. I have a rough idea of the sort of premium you'd pay for one of those units & it's not cheap. You hope never to have to claim but if something goes wrong, you don't then want to find they have a way ot of paying up.

Re: the insurance the Tvan is insured with CIL and can/would need to be upgraded to a "for hire" policy on a weekly basis. We confirmed this with CIL when we purchased the Tvan so that is not an issue.

I would like to cover costs and be able to donate to the RFDS as mentioned so I would expect to be able to make it available to PP members somewhat cheaper than the commercial hirers would be able to.

Having said that i would not want to tread on any PP members' toes who might be those commercial hirers

TVan hire

Mike, are you still interested in hiring your TVan to support RFDS?

Google directed me to you post, and i would sooner support RFDS than commercial hire.

I am planning a trip from around 30 July to 11 August to make a documentary film in the Ngaanyatjarra tribal area around Warburton Ranges.
