Alright, here I am downing some Toohey's 5 Seed which is going down well in this Sydney heat (40+ today). Never was a cider man (love my Bundy) but for some reason I rekon this stuff is awesome! Before I rave on about it to my mates (and avoid potential embarrasment) I wanted to ask all of you if thought this was an attempt at one of thse "lolly waters" varieties (read "soft!") or a drink that a wholesome Australian fella can drink in public with no worries at all!

I drink gallons of cider as it is the alternative to beer , I can only drink beer occasionally if I dont want gout , but I tried this Tooheys 5 seed a few months ago a barman offerd a stubby as a sample promo , and I will not try it again , I will stick to the Strongbow and Skrumpy Jack if it is available . -

Soft or not, have a look at the alcohol content, something around 5%.
If that is true then you better not start thinking it is 'soft' otherwise a couple of quick ones** may well take you over the limit.

Just cos a beer company makes it, doesn't mean its 'acceptable'...
I reckon you could put it in the same category as Millers Chill, and those Carlton Fusion beers...
Having said, it depends on your mates whether they will give you hass about drinking it. Try the Three Oaks Cider - Original. The best cider I've ever had. Don't like Strongbow at all, and couldn't make myself like the 5 Seed either, gave it a good try though.... :lol: Strange... but recently cider seems to have become more popular. For a long time it was Strongbow or bust.
The Three Oaks original seems to strike a good balance between sweet and tartness. But beer lovers I think might still find it too sweet for their liking. Only one way to find out 8). Deceptive though because it doesn't really taste alcoholic so it creeps up on you....... :shock:
