Whilst the mounting hardware and brackets may look the same, there are huge discrepancies in
the material quality. For example, hose clamps that have a stainless steel band are often
constructed with a plain steel screw. Brackets are often mild steel and then painted or even
worse, studs in the wrong grade of stainless steel or plated mild steel. Inserts in the snorkel body
are often made of aluminium or plated steel. The list goes on and unfortunately for the consumer,
the problems don’t appear for some time - but when they do, it will be too late. The corrosion will
most likely have fused components together and rust spread to vehicle panels.
All genuine Safari snorkel fasteners, clamps and brackets are 100% stainless steel, of the correct
grade for the job and the stud inserts formed inside the snorkel body are high quality brass for a
lifetime of component serviceability and zero corrosion.
I notice eBay has been flooded with a few other makes of snorkels recently ie Razorback, ironman etc.Silver 2008 D4D Auto GXL

Re: Safari Snorkel Knock-offs
I dont know but for what I paid for my inferior knock off, I can afford for it to break and replace it again and still not be out of pocket.
Where is their bulletin stating the facts about the disappearance and rumored quality issues with their superior quality Dtronic product? I hope mine doesnt fail now they have disappeared.06 GXL TD 5 spd man, Dual Batteries, Safari knock off Snorkel, Sov. Bar, BFG ATs, GME TX3420, Safari Dtronic, ARB Compressor.

Re: Safari Snorkel Knock-offs
I picked up a Safari Snorkle from ARB for about $370 from memory. I also paid for fitting ($500 or $520 all up) BUT I could have got it for that price. Jason, if you are after one I can contact some one I know at ARB and see if they will do that price again. Let me knowNick
