Thanks...I was meant to do some work tonight :roll: :roll:

I've been wondering when they'd actually do a true 4WD special (not just the North Pole & Africa ones)
By the look of it, the camera/support vehicle may have been a 60 series. There's just a glimpse of it and it's roof rack when they're going through the road with the drop off.
Whatya think?

Don't know about the support vehicle but that was a real cracker. Shame that the Toyo didn't make it down the last bit but awesome stuff. Had seen a show recently on that Road of the Dead and also read an article in National Geo a few years back. That would truley be a scary as hell trip.

I have a friend, Mark Hawley, who was a vehicle consultant for this episode of Top Gear. The things he did to keep those vehicles running would shock even the best bush mechanic.

He arrived a week early and with two others mechanicaly went over aspect of the vehicles. He designed the roll cage (Metal Tech) and shipped it in advance along with the mods that were added mid-way through the episode.

I hope to see more challenges like this next season.

Shame that the Toyo didn't make it down the last bit but awesome stuff.

Schaffer - I expect they ditched the Toyota because the brakes were stuffed, and they thought it too dangerous to do the last downhill run.

Thats exactly what I thought as to why the Toyo didnt do the last downhill run
