    iPad HEMA Maps application

    Anyone seen or used the new iPad HEMA Maps application? Saw it reviewed on Pat Callinan's 4wd Show recently.

    Looked pretty good - and gives me another great reason to get an Apple iPad!!!

      wow STASH PRO how good is that maaaan .these sound like every thing you need after a reeeally big night .QUOTA to let you know when youve had enough , FIND MY IPHONE i need to dial a pizza . SHIPFINDER , how ripped would you have to be to forget where you parked your ship ,or your plane .FACEPAD would be good when you end up face down ,off your facebook .
      i think the kiwis have got one called ewefinder or as we know it RSVP .

        I bought a last June for the wife while she was laid up in Hospital for a while ... She loves it and uses it nearly every night now to internet shop. :roll:

        I had spent a few days loading movies games and music for my kids before travelling oseas for christmas, a day later it wouldnt work on wifi... the bride went straight to the apple store (even though i bought it originally from Domayne)and after a little bit of pleading and demanding (they wanted her to book an appointment) they replaced it then and there, the day before we flew out. Its a known problem apparently but happy with the way it was resolved.

        I dislike Apple for some of its practices but to me this is a great bit of kit, even my 2 year old daughter gets on it and plays Dora games or watches videos i have downloaded for her, without any help. Quite often hear her say 'wheres my ipad' ... cant wait till she figures out how to download new apps

        Apple will have to put video camera on it in time and watch Skype explode when that happens

        Looking for apps to help whilst exploring and travelling so any tips appreciated

        In the end i wouldnt be without one

            1000 for the ipad i thought was expensive... now if i factored in its 'running' costs :cry:

            So the new ipad has been announced with more memory more powerful thinner and a forward facing camera....which way is forward?

                You have two options currently

                MemoryMap is what was on the tv $50.00 but maps need to be bought and your windows pc used to transfer them about $250.00 for Aus 1:250k and the same for each state at 1:25k.

                VMS do a similar thing but is a little more $$$ at $199 it includes 1:250k of Aus but use own format so you don't get both windows version and iPad version

                I have been using memory map software for past 5 years and is excellent on my tablet pc and now have it on a iPad as well.

                IPad good for navigating but not suitable for hi res mapping so still tend use the tablet pc.

                Ozi are also working on a version of oziexplorer for iPhone iPad currently.

                  G'day , I've just bought an ipad with 3g so I can use on the road but just realised something I hope someone can help with.
                  How can I transfer photos from my camera to ipad, from what I've investigated you need itunes so that means I'll still need to bring a laptop just for this..

                  Is there anyway to not use itunes or another computer to transfer stuff ?

                    U can buy an adaptor to plug in your usb cable from your camera and download the photo's, about 30-40 bucks. We got one when we brought the Pad, haven't used it yet though.

                        The camera connector for the iPad works great. It also includes a SD card slot if your camera uses SD. So you have the choice of simply using the SD card or the USB camera cord.
                        Doubt that you will get it any cheaper via eBay. The camera connectors were very scarce in the first few months but all shops that sell iPads have them now. I have transferred 1000's of photos to my iPad.

                              I just got one for free so can't complain, just looking at aps to load on it
                              ...If its not on all 4's it's not on.....
