We've had our RV-3 for a few years now and have been very happy with it. Sure, it's long and heavy to put on and off the roof of the car, but it does set up quickly. Longer if you add a fly and other bits. It's robust as well and has stood up to some epic wind gusts at Wilson's Prom on a few occasions. It has been repaired once. Care needs to be taken when removing pegs during packdown. If you pull on the peg-loop it can come adrift from the tent. We sleep on xped, down-filled inflatable mattresses. These are great because they are comfortable, warm and don't take up much space in the car and can be used when bushwalking. In short, we are fans of Oztent for car-based camping.

After having a huge family style tent with front room and awning we now have only a small 4-man tent that's big enough to stand up in and 2 people can sleep comfortably with some room off to the side for luggage, etc. I haven't used it for quite some time but think it was a Primus branded canvas tent, a bit heavy but reasonably quick to set up.
With a group of people it's too hard to sit around in a tent anyway, at least the kids can be put to bed and then we shouldn't annoy them too much! The ARB swags are like a small tent anyway!

We haven't personally used ours for years now because if i go with mates it's swags for an overnighter or a holiday house if we are away on a fishing trip, and if it's a family trip it's either the caravan or a resort (bloody women).
Maybe i'll set it up in the backyard the next time i get in trouble with the mrs

It's like anything James if you look after good quality gear it'll last for ages!

Some great info there Brogers, our plan is to move around a bit and with two kids I want to make set up as easy as possible.

      Thanks everyone for your replies

I'm looking at getting a tent for the family and like so many things there are too many choices. After some research I come across the Black Wolf range.

Looking at our needs as a family of four the Black Wolf 'Turbo Lite Twin' either 240 or 300 looks attractive. It's easy to erect and pack away (looking at you-tube videos) and has a lifetime factory warranty.

        Q. Has anyone had any experience with 'Turbo Lite Twin'?
        Q. Has anyone experienced their warranty after an issue with their Black Wolf tent?

        Love to hear some comments

          Hazza,

I have a Black Wolf Turbo 300, not the twin. As they say it goes up in seconds, then you need to allow for the hour to set everything else up inside.

Good quality except for the storage bag. It's like they tried to economise on size for the thing and it was ALWAYS a hassle to get back into the bag, you had to be absolutely spot on how you rolled it up and even then it was way too tight a fit to the point where after 5 or 6 trips the main zipper stitching came away. I did go back to where I bought it from but it was out of warranty and they couldn't be ar$d doing anything.

I had a local upholstery firm make me up a nice roomy bag in waterproof vinyl, no issues since then and room for extra stuff.

          Cheers,

          Dave

Hazza... When I was looking for a tent for my 'small family' @18 months ago and we opted on the Black Wolf Turbo 240 plus non lite version (canvas). The 300 was just one big square and the 240 just looked too small, The plus version offered the flexibility of having an extended room if need be and you could segregate this 'annex' i.e separate sleeping for kids and adults! From memory the 240 plus was larger in area (Sq meters) than the 300 and was more user friendly!! We opted for canvas as I did not want the lite version. If well looked after it should last me a lifetime. I'm fairly strong and tall so the extra weight was not an issue for me, however, they are substantially more expensive. A pole was broken on acquiring the tent which was replaced without question! An extremely well made tent but they are dear! Packing can be an issue but if you follow set parameters and use compression straps it should not be an issue. Buying extra straps for packing away the fly is a good idea otherwise it's a PITA to put back in it's bag. Leaving the folded tent for 5 mins (lets air out) also helps with the main tent.

Not regretted it for a minute.

            Cheers.

              Dave & macaroon1,

Thanks for your reply. As it turns out I also know two others that have the Black Wolf and are very happy with theirs. One of my friends has the Turbo Lite Twin 300 Tent (the one I'm after) and she can erect it (not the best choice of words) in minutes by herself.

If I can get it for the right price I'm confident it's the one (tent that is).

              Thanks again

They are the 2012 model. The 2013 model has a stronger floor and new curved bedroom poles.

When Anaconda have them in stock (out at the moment) show them this web site and they will beat it by 10%.

The ebay ones do state 2013 models however I'd feel more comfortable buying from Anaconda or tentworld for warranty support. Good call on the 10% price beat Hazza

                          Hazza,
I recently got the 240 turbo lite and after a 3 night bush camp i am pretty happy. Takes about 15 mins to set up with all the crap inside ( bags, stretchers, mattress etc). It got very windy in the middle of one night and it all hung together well with no ropes. Following night I put the fly on and tied it down to cyclone standard just in case. The fly added about 30 mins to the job but I was doing it myself. I reckon the price was $720 or thereabouts from a little camping store in Glenelg. I would buy it again. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the experience it just concretes my decision that much more. Seems you also got a great price for it too.

I have yet to hear one negative remark about the tent itself so off to Anaconda once they have stock.

                              Thankyou all for your input
