                • Guys,

Looks like a great weekend. One question, was there a petrol Prado on the trip. All this talk of you guys getting stuck half way, or almost there, just sounds like jealousy!!!!

                  • Great video but unfortunately from side on at the really gnarly spot it doest show just how out of shape things were, will post some great pics in a while.

After the we all got over that first big dune we came to the even bigger second one, Michael was up and over no problems and then my turn, damn I was so close to making it over, got at least 90% of the way but couldn't make it, still the bonus was I got to use the winch for the first time and Michael used his rear recovery points for the first time. (the rear recovery point was being fitted in MLC's pic with me lying under Michaels rig)

Next up wa MLC, a valiant effort saw him make it almost half way up the dune LOL, he told me as hard as he tried he just couldn't get it up! If you look closely at the pics Robs trailer is at a fair angle so he couldn't reverse down, Rob tried to pull himself up the hill but as hard as he was pulling he still couldn't get it up, he did however manage to get it straight and he reversed down the hill and then took the lonely drive around the pussy track.

Once again the non towers all made it up, and Mal tried hard again but couldn't make it to the top either stopping just short of the point I made it to, so out with the winch and everyone was on the opposite side of the dune.

All jokes aside; numerous people have compared this dune to Big Red, so to not make it over with a trailer is no disgrace, and even half way is a reasonable effort.
not having been to big red I can only go on what I have been told.

                    Cheers Andrew

Yes Dave there was, Troy aka Foxclan has a V6, and still the only two vehicles to make it up the monster dune in big desert first time were diesels (and mine did it twice first time both times with different drivers)

after the big dunes comes the Mud holes, we have already seen a bit of Mals efforts, This mud hole was before Red Bluff so most of us weren't to keen to have Prados and Trailers plastered in mud, especially considering some of us know what was in store in the morning so only the Vic boys took on the first mud hole.

Here is Hibbo doing it in style.

                        Cheers Andrew

I will add some more of the last day tomorrow, but so everyone can sleep without the anticipation of what is to come, the major really deep mud holes south of Red Bluff that some of use drove last time were much worse this time, getting into them would have been alright but getting out would have been a nightmare, no one considered it to a good idea to go into those huge holes but we still had some more fun on the Sunday morning.

                            Cheers Andrew

                            • A few pics of the last stretch south of Red Bluff, interestingly while parts of this section were wetter and muddier than last time, other parts seemed drier than last time and not a lot of distance between the places, so go figure.

                              • And the last few, just a few snaps of the track. the big Nissan figured seeing as Hibbo had got through the mud hole he would be able to follow, wrong, he got stuck and had to be snatched out much to our delight.

well thats about it from me, great weekend, interesting doing the same track a few months apart in different circumstances. Big desert is somewhere I will have to revisit with more time to explore (I can feel another trip coming on) hope to catch up with most of those that came along on another trip down the track.

                                Cheers Andrew
