Yes, Bendethera is a very long drive, that's why I've said we should consider other destinations. If there's still strong interest in Bendethera I would recommend 4 days, as two days would be pretty much written off to travel.

Given this is sort of a first camp trip, I think we should keep it a bit easier - closer to Sydney, and less days.

I'd like to hear more opinions on how many days, and destinations.

I can do the four days off work no problems if thats the way to go for Bendethra. If you wanted to go somewhere closer to sydney for the weekend then there are a few options like abercrombie river np, or kanangra region, or even north up to barrington tops area. (im sure we can come up with somewhere better than Newnes to go camping for the weekend!)

Something west of the mountains? Newnes would be a bit of a sh!t hole for camping.

            Agree; Newnes, no way.
Lidsdale or Sunny maybe, but we don't need 3 days for that.

                            Hey Kav,
I'm not actually recommending Lidsdale or Sunny, it's just that they'd be a faaaar better choice than Newnes. Given 3 days is on the cards, I'd rather go somewhere better than ALL of those!

I've been told that Bendethera has tracks that rival VIC high country, but I'm not convinced yet, those photos look pretty mild (apart from the river crossings, which will probably have Declan on the phone tomorrow ordering a snorkel). I'm not knocking it though, I've been wanting to go to Bendethera for some time, and it looks VERY pretty in some of those photos. I won't do 2 days though. I vote for starting Thursday morning, or Thursday night, or very early Friday morning.

Otherwise, if closer is demanded by the masses, I like Jeff's suggestions:
                            - Abercrombie River N/P (3-4 hours)
                            - Kanangra region, Kowmung river (3-4 hours)
                            ..and mine:
                            - Hill End (3-4 hours)

But I'm ok with any of above, so it's up to the masses!
