haha the Suzuki! It's certainly a mini-monster truck, but it didn't make it through the track. We passed this on the way out. It came in after us, but obviously rolled... don't know where.
Thanks for joining in on late notice Steven. It was a great day and I'm happy to have made it to the end this time, and both of us without damage.. just a couple scratches.
Next time, I'd love to see a monster truck go up the left of the second last climb (where we took the right, and I bottomed out on top). Seeing some trucks go up the left would be spectacular.glen_ep - engineered, 4" lift, 33" 255/85R16, lockers, 4.88 ratios www.pradopoint.com.au/showthread.php?17237 www.youtube.com/user/glenep www.fb.com/groups/ToyotaPrado90

Congratulations on making it to the end! Great photos!
I trust the driver of the Suzuki is OK.
Used to ride the trail bikes on that track & the one just to the north, which I think is still gated off, many years ago; amazing how eroded the track has become over timeCheers,

We can only assume the suzuki driver is ok. We were ahead of that group, it occurred behind us, so when we passed them on the way back we had no idea. It was only when we finally exited at 5pm that we saw the lone rig.
It'd be interesting to see the track on the north ridge. :-/
BTW, all, I'm impressed with the 150. Definitely better clearance than the 120, and the traction control is clearly good enough for hard offroading. BUT, I still stand on the side of user-controlled diff lockers for regular hard offroading. TC is a bit rough, requires some momentum to function, and it's ability to control traction does fade in extreme situations.Last edited by glen_ep; 14-01-2012, 10:36 PM.glen_ep - engineered, 4" lift, 33" 255/85R16, lockers, 4.88 ratios www.pradopoint.com.au/showthread.php?17237 www.youtube.com/user/glenep www.fb.com/groups/ToyotaPrado90

Great pics. Looks like you had a successful day, besides the GU! Let me guess, the 3.0lt melted a piston and he put the LS1 in???
Glad you made it to the end Glen, bet Declan is haging even more now!
How is that RH line on the last steep bit, is it eroded at all? it was smooth and clay like last time I was there.

Yeah Declan missed out big time. He was actually the one that requested this track today, but then chickened out
hmmm. the very last climb, on the very far right, was moist soil with 2 very minor steps, quite easy. Towards the top there were a few embedded rocks/partial steps to avoid. It REALLY sucked driving down this section (off camber big time).
The worst was the second last climb. Very gnarly and steep on the left, quite steep on the right with some off camber angle, and the big steps up on top that need to be avoided (with very little room to do so).glen_ep - engineered, 4" lift, 33" 255/85R16, lockers, 4.88 ratios www.pradopoint.com.au/showthread.php?17237 www.youtube.com/user/glenep www.fb.com/groups/ToyotaPrado90

The traction control is good but the major problem is that with the petrol model you have to get the revs up for it to work and when it does work and grab the car absolutely launches forward. Yes the tack did have some very tight areas and sometimes having to drive on the base of the trees to get through.150 prado V6, yokies 32"s, bullbar, towbar, 2" lift, snorkel, diff breathers, e.r.p, winch, 14"s of lcd...hummm now what

After that I don't have any footage, but from memory there's a fair bit of easy driving, tight stuff between trees, plenty off camber sections, a tricky turn on soft sand/rock step, but I think, only two more hard sections...
The second last is very impressive; think of the section pictured above, but compressed to be much steeper and shorter. The only "easy" way is off camber along an edge, and on top there's some tricky manaurvering to avoid some big steps, again on an edge. I tried to take on those steps instead of avoiding them, but they won (vs my sub tank bash plate.. grr!). Steven bottomed out on that "easy" section but some rocks solved it. Almost all the options on the left are for monster trucks, bar perhaps one line, but I suspect I'd need a winch.
The very last section is much the same as the one pictured above. Oh here's a shot of it...

Steven's experience with traction control requiring a few revs and sometimes momentum is not unique to petrol Prados. I have seen a few D4D 150's requiring some right foot to get through the Newnes wombat holes.

For the next half we went far right beside the large rock (left looked possible but we couldn't be bothered by this stage).Declan: 1997 GXL 4.5 Auto 80 series on LPG, ARB bullbar, 2" OME lift, 32" MTZ, GME UHF, rear ARB locker, Kaymar spare wheel carrier
