    Another fun day at our usual forest; we met at Richmond macca's & Russell & his daughter from the central coast made a surprise appearance & was good to have them along.

    Airing down at ZZ carpark



    The compulsory visit to the wombat holes, Mick taking the easy way!



    Went to the Lost City to enjoy the view. It became very cold with a light drizzle for most of the morning, nothing unusual for Lithgow in the middle of summer!

      We had lunch & Russell & Caitlyn went up to the Glow Worm tunnel area for a look around while Mick & I explored some tracks in the south western area of the forest. Stopped at Lithgow Spur trig & fortunately the weather had improved.



      A bit further on we found this...


      and this large cross on top of the rock formation



      A quick search on the net revealed the story from this article, such a tragedy...

            Track is a bit overgrown



            Went back to Zig Zag via Happy Valley



            It was good day out despite the Four Seasons weather! Don't forget to bring the appropriate clothing when up in the mountains

                Maybe the recent burn offs along the track there were done so that folks from down in Lithgow could see the cross....
