Well my hubby decided to play cricket yesterday instead of coming 4x4'ing with me, so I went off with a girlfriend and some other families and we had an absolute blast!

We followed some friends to what we thought was going to be one of the trips out of the Dirty Weekends book, but somehow we didn't manage to find any of the tracks (however that is possible) and went our own interesting way.

We started somewhere near Sandy Creek outside of Woodford, and came out just south of Jimna on the Kilcoy-Murgon Hwy. I THINK that must mean that we went through the Bellthorpe National Park, and also some of the Conondale? All I know for sure is that we had so much fun I'm ready to not go to work today and go back up there.

It was my first time driving through water and across mud, and I'm very pleased that I did it without the help of a male We've only had our Prado for a little on 4 months now and it is such a great car. I'm so impressed with it! I have told my hubby that he needs to buy his own 4wd, as this one is MINE :-D

Hi Celeste

You went alomg the Jimna-Bellthorpe Rd, this can be accessed two ways, from Sandy Ck and from Bellthorpe locality. For others that road can be varying conditions, in the wet very greasy low range 4WD, in the dry able to be traversed by 2WD.

You can also continue from the Jimna end along Sunday Ck Rd and end up at Kenilworth.

We used this for one leg of the 2011GTG for the camper trailers, all the participants agreed it was a great trip.

I've been meaning to look this trip up in the Dirty Weekends book as I missed the trip when you went late last year Richo. Do you need a permit to pass through Bellthorpe?

Hi Gumboot

No you don't need permits to traverse state forests anymore, however DERM haven't been able to get around and remove the "Restricted Access" signs and don't have any plans to. If you are concerned all I did was ring them with the road names and they will do a check on closures for you, remember to get a name and date/time so you are covered.

In all the time we did recces last year for the GTG we didn't see a ranger once except for the camping areas and that was only twice in a year As a matter of fact we even went looking for one a couple of times but to no avail

Hey Richo,
I remember seeing a ranger in a camping area, i was sitting in the car though. The others under the car mightn't have seen him.

I was disappointed to miss this trip as it looked like a lot of fun. I guess ill just have to get a SWB 150 to go playing in and my darling wife can keep the now pinstriped 120

Have to put it on my next to do list then, but i will just wait for some rain, bit sick of these dry trail runs recently.
Need some decent mud. Whats the fun if you aint up to your eyeballs in mud and wearing gumboots. ;-)
