  • NSW: Sunday 4th of March, Jellore S/F

We're heading down south to explore Jellore State Forest. Some rain is expected but I THINK the ground down there is reasonablly hard packed. The plan is to explore some new tracks and visit 2 hardcore climbs - one is a long powerline climb as featured on Your 4x4 (with chicken tracks), the other is a short one with rock steps (has an alternative route which may be a little challenge for stock-ish vehicles). There's a couple nice views as reward.

Please read the following disclaimer if you wish to participate on this trip. If you choose not to accept the terms & conditions therein, you are requested not to attend.

If its the same climb we visited last August, there's a lot of shale and/or sandstone so mud shouldn't be problem after the rain.

                      Wow no posts yet?!?

Well it certainly did end up being wet, but it wasn't boggy, I didn't see any mud at all. Declan thinks he found some mud, his excuse for getting his 80 bogged *shrug*

Anyway, I'm still editing video and sorting photos, but here's a little teaser....

We ended up with 9 vehicles:

The first challenge of the day:

One of the hard rocky climbs (sidestep=ouch):

Race to the top of the powerline climb:

Today was a blast, but it was a rather ordinary beginning for my 80 series, being the first vehicle of the day requiring recovery. Much to glen_ep's amusement, the bogging was entirely due to driver error. Luckily I was snatched by Anthony's 80 series and not a Prado

Here's a photo for you to gloat over Glen

Wow nice photo, it looks so tropical. Was a great day. Shame about Stevens 150 and I think we may have scared AK80...

Nah, AK80 has been out with us before, Glen. He, like me, is part of a growing list of PP ringins ;-)

                            What happened to Steven's 150?

Wow Declan must have gone down a different track to us, I dont remember that section, but I can see what you mean about it being alot more chewed up now!!!!

No vids from me, only one poor vid of me launching the sidestep onto a small rock, and the other was of a bit of pruning!!! Great day out and yet so close to home for me, thanks to Chris and fam for the local knowledge!!

The thing that I like about these trips apart from exploring the abilities of your own driving and the capabilities of your rig are enjoying seeing others do the same, and none more than that UKI racing a 6" lifted Patrol up the powerlines track - thats Gold!! Second was that piece of driving by the fearless Kav who never fails to impress, a 2 wheel drive reverse with a half pike back down the powerlines track!!

Declan was right in that many other Non-prados have joined the PP world, I do beleive yesterday the Prados were the minority, but still a good day anyway!
