The weather looks a lot better now so we are heading out this Sunday, March 25th!

Can the moderators please change the date of this thread to March 25th.....thanks!


We shall head out to Sunny Corner State Forest between Lithgow & Bathurst. Tracks we will traverse today will be easy to medium grade with some sightseeing too.

Meeting at: McDonalds at Richmond, cnr of March & Eastmarket Sts. at 8:00am, departing around 8:15 am http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en...ed=0CBoQnwIwAA

Finishing time is flexible; if you want to leave early it won't be a problem. Usually we go till around 4 or 5pm

Bring: Prado, morning tea, lunch, water/drinks, camera, air compressor/recovery gear if you have it, warm clothing as it can get cool out there, sense of adventure

UHF channel 28 This is to avoid the interference from the mines in the area who use ch.16

There was some serious rain on Firday night but we still went out for a great sunny weekend! Friday night's rain sent the Turon River up over 1m in places, and running strong, Lyfe will be VERY disspointed to have missed out on that river. Anyway, we decided not to cross, and camped on the eastern side.

Campsite:




Turon river looking a little brown from flood water. Note, there were very clear indications that the water was recently 2m higher!!



By Sunday lunch the river had droped at least 300mm, which made it much easier to cross. Unfortunately my Prado has some drive line issues, so here's a Patrol instead...

wow good effort, spewing i missed out but i have major prado issues at the moment. My rims are screwed so have to wait and see if they will give me new ones....not holding my breath.

We are going out to Sunny Corner this Sunday the 25th as the weather has been good & it should have dried out a fair bit.

I want to join but just wonder if we can change it to Saturday?

Reason because Mon will be very busy and tired with me if we going out on Sunday. But if can't change, not a big deal, I still join.

James, I would much prefer to do Saturday trips too but I have my daughter on Saturdays so no can do; this trip will be a Sunday outting but you never know someone might post a Saturday trip out there. It's a long way to go, will take about 1.45 hours i think from richmond maccas to the destination.
