Moreton Island May 5-7 2012

Fairly last minute decision but myself, son and brother headed over to Moreton for the Labour Day long weekend. The weather was absolutely fantastic beautiful sunny days each day, full moon, beautiful spot how could we not enjoy ourselves.

Didn't take too may photos but here re some also took some Gopro footage.

Was fortunate enough to see these little guys make their way to the water for the first time I think yhey are loggerhead turtles. Their mum was very considerate and laid them at the entrance to the Blue Lagoon campground where we were camping.

This little guy got rolled by a wave and was having trouble getting back on his feet.

The water was so clear this a shot looking into the water from the lighthouse.

Climbed Mt Tempest about a 15 quick walk up and could see Brisbane even with the smoke from the fire at Glasshouse mountains. Brings home how close this little wonderland is from home.

This is the last day near the wrecks with a perfect sunset. Also saw some beautiful moonrises over the water on the Eastern side. The truck has the craigm designed maxtrax holders along with the Rhino large basket and shade sail, al fitted quite nicely. Also has the BD bash plate on, looks pretty clean after 3 days.

Glad to see MI turned it on for you JPM21. Great pics. Looks like you got a bonus with the turtles too.

Which tracks did you do?

I'm interested in trying to do a la of MI at some stage. Done the top end a few times but never South

Hi Wazza we certainly were lucky I know of people who make special trips up to Mon Repos near Bargara to try and catch a turtle hatch and dash and still not get to see it happen.

We mainly did the Northern end and all the tracks were easy even saw an older Subaru Forrester along with Rav 4's all with no problems. We did go south along the beach and went to the Rous battery stations which were interesting. After several trips to Fraser I must say that MI is nowhere near as well signed as FI. The signs are small and located in positions which are not easy to see. Interesting the campgrounds had flushing toilets but only cold showers (I travel with some 'soft' campers but all in all great local playground. Cheers Jason
