  • Perth wa day trip

Wanted to get a few Perth people to take a day trip somewhere. I haven't really done much 4WDin since I got my car as none of my mates really have four-wheel drives. Would be good to go with some experienced people to learn a few tips and what better to go with a bunch of Prado's . . .

Whenever and where ever, somewhere that is recommended for a fun day out. I've only really heard about the power lines tracks and wilbinga-seabird. If you know of any other places which would be a good I'd be keen.

I found this track on another site,

We could try to follow the same route?
              Looks interesting?

This track in the raining seasons, doesn't it at least require a snorkel and a winch? Just asking as I haven't got neither? Other than that the date looks good also. I live North so would have to organise a meeting spot. I've got a mate with a Prado also which would prob love to come.

I can't make the 9th as I'm already going out 4WDing on the 10th and was looking at the linked track as somewhere our group could go but noticed the following statement:

                    "WA DEC UPDATE:

We would like to advise that the southern section of the "Hoffman Mill" track on you website is currently CLOSED.

This is a strategic access track and part of a Nature Reserve boundary which has been recently upgraded for Fire Management purposes to allow the safe access for Emergency Fire vehicles. The track has been closed for the winter months to minimise the damage and erosion caused due its steep terrain and highly fragile soils."

We have done the Hoffmans Mill trip from '4WD days out of Perth' which follows a similar route and was very benign.

                      Another Idea would be.
Muchea to Two rocks via the bush.
Possible start at Gnangara Pine Forrest and wind our way through and around the RAAF firing range to Muchea. From there back and across Wanneroo road to Wilbinya and across to Two rocks .
Easy drive ,mainly track driving .This would be a interesting late afternoon drive as the sun goes down near Wilbinya across the ocean.
                      Maybe a afternoon start?

I did a similar route of that last weekend. Added some pics here . . . http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...0-Series/page4

I'd do it again, was a good little track. We started past 2Rocks and made our way back South all the way to the Alkimos. It's good cause you stop in at 2Rocks for a drink and a bite and continue on. Most of the fun is before 2Rocks though as the Alkimos is getting developed and tracks are being grated out.

Would suggest going further North and finishing at 2Rocks.

I am taking a trip down to the Harvey / Hoffmans Mill tracks this Saturday (26th) with a bunch of guys from work. I havent been there before so I dont which is the part of the track that DEC advised is closed (still waiting for an email reply from them.) - but spoke to someone who did it last weekend and he had a ball.
No doubt we will find somwhere to have some fun.

I dont want to post a trip on Prado Point, as it is really a run for a bunch of different guys. probably 6 or 8 cars and I am the only Toyota - but I could sure do with some company if anyone is intersted in coming along

Probably meeting in Waroona on Sat morning - if anyone is interested let me know and I will PM the details.
2011 D4D Manual, ARB Winch bar, Uniden radio, 9500lb Winch, Tracklander copy roofrack, 150L/Min Ebay compressor, and a very long shopping list...

Any progress made with this choosing date/destination. I wouldn't mind coming along for the day.

I have never done Harvey so that could be good idea.... otherwise the Wilbinga at night suggestion. I have done Wilbinga many times during the day but never at night.... although I don't have spotties
