Well after some delay and 1 false start, the NSW pradopointers were set for a run on Stockton Beach.
The day started off ok, meeting at Lavis Lane to purchase beach permits & air down. Starters for the day were Samo, Byrnsie, Damian, Pete, Craig, The Bludger, Yota(me), Chambo(my dad) and Jeffery(my Brother).
5 120's, 3 90's & 1 Zook.
The entrance track was in pretty good condition for a change, but still included the compolsry bogged tourists, 1 mitsubishi chalenger and 1 RAV4.
The dunes leading out to the beach proved to be a bit of a chalenge for the lttle zook. The rest of the group headed down to the Signa wreck while we got the zook over the dunes. While snatching the zook over the first dune, we took a bad line and I even ended up using my winch for the first time. The rest of the trip to the beach was pretty easy, and I thought the zook did pretty good for a car that was saved from the scrap heap 12 months ago and only blue sliped 2 months ago.
Once on the beach Jeffery made a coment over the UHF about his engine temp, he had barely put the mic down when a cloud of steam came from under the bonnet, the bottom radiator hose had split from end to end. The next chalenge was to turn the zook around in some of the softest sand I have seen on stocko in years, took 2 prados to eventulay get to turned around around to be towed back of the beach. It was decided to tow the zook the 20km up to Birubi rather than takel the dunes with a disabled car, and after saying good bye to the rest of the group it was an fairly easy 20km tow off the beach.
A trip to Newcastle and back with a new hose and few liters of coolant and the zook was driven back to Sydney.
Was great to meet every one and see Pete again, and I hope you all had a better day then me. It sure was an interesting day and my brother learnt the first rule of 4wding, S#%T HAPPENS.
