  • SA - Vic Loop

    PP'ers

I'm planning on a decent loop in a couple of weeks from SA, down the coast around through Vic and back via the Murray. At this stage:

    Adelaide - Robe
Robe - Beachport via the beach
    Portland
    Otways - Lorne
    Queenscliff
Talbotville - drive blue rag & billy goats bluff
    Falls Creek
    Murray sunsets NP
    Back to Adelaide

Any recommendataions on must sees along the way? Good fun tracks?

    Cheers

There are some good fun tracks in the Otways not far from Lorne, it just depends on what you want, whether its easy, medium or if its wet difficult. Curtis, Newcombe Spur and Cowley link are all favourites and wye Track is fun if its wet. Some of these tracks can be fairly steep and rutted in parts, but great fun. There is quite a few tracks around Anglesea as well. There's plenty of great coastline to see, what's left of the twelve apostles are worth a look, you may also want to drop into Cape Otway lighthouse. There are a few grand old buildings to see in Queenscliff and a new marina at the ferry terminal. Depending on when you're coming through may be able to meet up to do some tracks.

    Cheers josh

      Thanks JPH.
I've still only got the standard dunlops on my rig (can't justify $2k to switch from brand new rubber) so probably only keen to go from some moderate stuff.
I didn't know about the tracks at Anglesea, so may be worth a look.
I have family at Queenscliff and your spot on - there are some cracking buildings.

Will be coming through Ottways etc around Wed 20 Feb. Would be great to have a local show me the ropes.

Hi Devsadv, I'll most likely be working, you may wont to keep clear of some of those tracks then. Lake Elizabeth near Forrest is also worth a look, the Lake was caused by a landslide a long time ago and has some old dead trees in the water, quite pretty and a known spot for platypus. It's about a 1 km walk to the lake from the campground. Many of the tracks around the area have been graded and blue metalled, but still a nice drive.

        Enjoy your trip
