After getting back from Fraser the other week, crawling under the Prado, it was caked in sand, in all the nooks and crannys. Chassis rails, bash plates, sills, and I mean everywhere again. So I dropped the bash plates and took it up to Downey Street Lubritoriaum in Geebung for an "after beach clean" as I have used them before.
http://rustproof.com.au/ ( click on after beach clean)

They put the Prado up on a hoist and hot steam pressure cleaned everything under the vehicle , including completly flushing out all the chasis rails, outside and under the Prado. It also got rid of off all the road grime underneath, so it is crystal clean now.
They charge $90, but if you mention their current newsletter, they have a special on form the 15th of April to end of may there is another $10 off, so $80. I am not assocated with them in any way just a happy customer. Also if you get a card from them, after the 4th time, the 5th is free.

After it dried when I had it at home, I gave any areas underneath that had some srcatches from 4wding, a good sand, applied Cold Gal primer and then recoated with Black KillRust Epoxy paint, just to be protect it a bit more. Came up like new again.
    Cheers

Just worked out my fuel consumption for our Fraser Trip. This included the 3 hour drive from Brisbane, all the sand drving on Fraser for the week and the return trip home.
We left Brisbane with full tanks. We covered a total of 989 klms and used just over 150 litres of diesel.
So this averages out at about 15.1 km/l for fuel consumption

Factors that impacted the consumption included
            - The roof rack was loaded high and you could hear and feel the wind resistance at 110km/hr
            - Prado was fully loaded and heavy.
            - All the sand driving was done at 22PSI for the week in the sand

Hi other Prado owners. New to this forum and blogging
I'm heading to Fraser from Sydney on the 12th April and on the Island from the 15th to the 20th. Staying at Central Station with the family and kids.
Only wish I knew about the PP trip earlier could have delayed a week.
I'll be sure to advise on track conditions at the earliest opportunity
