Brisbane to Perth Route Planning & General Advice

Thanks for that info Jasen - I hadn't seen that outbackway site. How many driving hours is a reasonable expectation between Laverton and Yulara, and how many overnight stops? Given we will have 3 youngsters, I need to get an idea of average road speed, and planned stops along the way so they don't drive us insane with the whinging in the car.

Thinking about doing the Great Central Road from West to East on our return trip from Perth, back home to Tassie later this year (I figure once we have seen the Nullabor one way, there is no point in doing it again, if possible). We are a family of 3 littlies and 2 adults, with just the tent and a well kitted out 120. Coming from Tassie, we aren't used to the "locals" and their habits (too cold down here), so any advice around safe over night stops would be much appreciated. I have read through this thread, and will continue to do so with great interest.

A few hours drinking with me I will show how to fit in with the " locals " . I reckon it is a great experience for kids to do this trip and I don't think many kids in Tassie could say they have done so.

G'day mate, you have been around long enough to know I'm just having a laugh about the colour coded thing. I've been in Perth for a couple of months now so know what SOR and NOR means but not really sure which I am lol I'm in Midland and would love a trip out. Sundays are best for me, just give me a time and place and I'll be there mate.

Midland my old trotting grounds - Woodbridge tavern I think I have paid for most of the bricks on that building.

Youre on fishfinder! Will be in touch in a couple of weeks. Time is closing in on us, and we are getting excited about heading out west. Never been in SA, WA or the NT before, so will be a great experience.
