There's fresh snow on the mountain tops this week, so I'm heading to Mt Pinnibar for some light snow driving and fantastic views. Mt Pinnibar's altitude is 1729m, and situated just nearby Tom Groggin, at the NSW/VIC border.
I'll be arriving there very early Saturday morning, camping near an Alpine hut on Saturday night, and leaving Sunday afternoon.
If you'd like to join in, please express your interest here or via PM, and I'll provide more details.
Notes:
- Temperatures are expected to be between -5 and 2 degrees, which will feel more like -15 when exposed to heavy wind on the mountain tops, so snow/ski clothing is absolutely required.
- Butane cookers will not function at these temperatures.
- Conditions on the roads will be slippery, expect black ice on the tarmac and mud and snow in the bush tracks, so MT/AT tyres, a winch and recovery gear is required.
- Consider if your engine fluids are suitable for cold weather, and a healthy starting battery is recommended
