This is my first post on Pradopoint and thought I'd do a Fraser report..(still here as I post)
Driving a 2009 Hilux SR5 TD.. Usual mods such as spotties, UHF, new cooper AT3's, maxtrax.. No lift kit. I started on 20psi and haven't needed to go any lower.. Most of the places we've been I reckon you could do with lower psi in 2wd.
Inland tracks - not a prob. They are quite firm given some recent rains and shouldn't pose too many probs.. Couple of spots its a bit soft, but even SUV style 4x4's should be right..
Eastern beaches - worst I've ever seen them! Many parts not driveable at all at high tide.. 2-3m embankments where high tide is coming up to.. There is exposed coffee rock everywhere and poyungan rocks is prolly the worst of them.. Saw a brand new Lexus SUV rip of 2 panels in front of me.. Not a prob in a "proper" fourby but SUV"s and cars with trailers/campervans may find this "interesting".
If you don't like driving through the salty stuff you'll need to wait till about 3 hours after high..
Fishing has been tough work cos of bad tide times but there's plenty of bream and a few tailor sniffing around. Plenty of beach worms caught although pipi's were more difficult than usual to find. The island is very quiet this week although that's apparently meant to change next week with the NSW holidays.
Hope this gives someone else a heads up..
Cheers
