Heading off in the morning for another go at the Simpson, hopefully get across this time!

Have just put 2 new Bridgestone 697 LTs on the front, so it'll be interesting to see how they go, compared to the geolanders on the back.

Mostly packed, a few odds and ends in in the morning, then hit the road

Melbourne- Renmark - Farina- Coward springs- somewhere nth of oodnadatta - Mt dare- then see how we travel.

If you see a white 120 on the road, grey space case on the roof say g'day! Channel 17. Channel 10 in the sand. Traveling with a silver d22

Hey Heath,

We were going to head off tomorrow morning as well but only just got home from work so wont be leaving till Sunday morning I think. We will be in Birdsville on the 9th of July. We will keep an eye out for you. We are a black 90series towing a Tvan with Prado point stickers on the bumper.

Just got home, a few stats for those that might be interested.

We took the French line but found it so chopped up we headed down to the WAA line, it wasn't much better, so we headed down to the Rig Rd, then back up Knolls track.

Took us 4 days pretty comfortably. 85 l of diesel for me.

Destroyed the sidewall of one brand new D697 in the first hour out of Mt Dare.... Made for a slightly stressful few days since I only carried one spare. Could have used my mates spare as the d22 wheel would fit on the back.

Ran 22 psi up to Dalhousie, then 18 psi in the sand.

Scan gauge was invaluable, the auto trans temp much preferred low range!

Me and my son, plus another car with two blokes, we cooked and cleaned every meal and used about 20 l of water only.

After a failed attempt last year, largely due to carrying too much weight and going too quick, we slowed right down and travelled much lighter. Worked for us.

I'll throw up some pics when Photobucket has done its thing.

Thanks for the update. Only 20lt of water. That's a very small amount. I take it that some hydration was from beer

Yeah mate, little bit of the amber consumed. But we needed very little for cooking, and just boiled up a litre or so for washing.

I left Melbourne with 30 litres, and we camped 3 nights on the way up, and 1 on the way back, came home with about 12 l.

Last year I carried about 60 l of water...
