Part 1
The young lad and I decided to shoot up into the Barrington Tops this afternoon to recci some areas for future trips. With no winch fitted yet and no one to recover me, I went pretty steady and even ended up turning around and giving one spot a miss. It was a good chance to teach my son more about reading Topo maps and finding his way using maps.
We dropped the tyres to 25psi at the Moonan Flat pub and wandered up into the Tops from there. First stop was the Dingo gate to stretch our legs and down onto Horse Swamp trail. We went as far as we could down this track, until the road fell away into a big wash away. I had a huge laugh when a black Navara came down the track towards us, look dad Jack said, theres a girl driving.. Actually when we pulled over and stopped to as hi, it was an engineer from work and his wife ! Yeah, like young Jack said.. Two girls.. LOL.
After smashing some huge mud holes along this track, I'm telling you the monster ride bump stops a damn brilliant.
I decided to have a look at Polblue Ridge rd which was an easy track and pretty easy to navigate. We turned around and decided to head for Dilgry Circle to see Cock Rock. It is easy to find, located a few km along the Circle.
The plan was to continue along the Circle and find the entrance to the Waterguage camp site. Once I found the trail, I marked it for Craig and Peter. For years the tree near the turn has been painted orange, so it was easy to find. Once I got to the bottom of the trail, I decided to chicken out until next time (when I have a mate with me or my winch finally).
Jack wanted to video the track going out, so here it is: http://youtu.be/Qe4yipQbbTE
