Nice pictures and report, but just wondering if using the Maxtrax this time was as exciting as the first time you used them? That story was one of the all time great recovery stories For those that haven't read it http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...time-i-used-my

Not sure how I missed that earlier thread, brilliant. Brings back too many similar instances. The one I like best was #1 son bogging the tractor for about the 5th time. 4wd and locked diffs and still stuck so I made him winch it out with a tirfor. Pretty sure he never got it bogged again.

Mike that was a great thread. You tell a good story.
I haven't taken the Prado to Fraser yet but will remedy that this December for a week.
I first went there about 20 years ago with a mate in his short wheelbase landcruiser. That thing was unsinkable. He never let his tyres down and we travelled pretty much every track north south east west we could find in 8 days without a hitch.
Next time you are back check out Central Station. That place is serenely beautiful.
Cheers Mark

I was a ring in with the Vic guys in April and loved it. The top of the island is by far the pick of the spots for camping and Eli creek for "viewing"! I did a very similar nose dive on the Indian Head bypass, one minute track, nek minut hole! I had a plastic jerry can in the rear bar go skyward, cracked the spoiler and dinted the rear door. You live and learn I suppose. The jerry can is always secured when in the bar now!
