Drive 4 Life High Country Tour

Came across a link to the Drive 4 Life 2008 High Country tour at the myswag.org site a couple of weeks ago. After reading the promo and talking to the missus, we have now registered and are looking forward to packing the Prado and heading to the High Country for a week long tour.

Could be time to get the lockers fitted. :lol:

Any other Pradopointers taking part :?:

Yep it has been excellent event first year, they raised about 80K for the charity. It was cancelled last year due to fires in High Country...
Darren from ATS will be leading one of the groups...

Less than two weeks to go.

Gotta love the timing of the Rosehill Supershow.
Picked up a Coleman Instant Hot Water system.
Ordered a Trek Table.
Bought some Polyair Bags (only they were the wrong ones!)
Got approx 10% off the list price of rear ARB locker - gets fitted on Wednesday.

Add to that some new sleeping bags, self inflating air beds, new 3 man tent and trying to pack as light as we can, while remembering to take everything that 2 adults and 2 kids will need for a self sufficient week away.

Will keep you posted on our final preparations.

What a great event this was and what a great way to be introduced to what the Vic High Country has to offer. I had no idea how vast this area was and how many tracks were there. You could spend 50 days in the High Country and not travel the same track twice!

The Prado performed extremely well however I did flick the locker on during the "steep and loose" bits. Having said that, Borgy's truck with traction control did everything easy as well. I guess the locker was a bit of a security blanket for me.

Highlights were Billy Goat Bluff Track (a 5km low range climb) and The Staircase on Speculation Road.

Fantastic group of people

The trip was a credit to the organisers and sponsors and it also raised $100,000 for the Northcott organisation.

Looks like a top place to visit. Definitely on my to do list.

However, quick question... is that young fella having a slash in the background of the 8th pic? Or is my sick mind playing tricks on me? (which is not uncommon)
