Looks like we have 9 Prado's for the day and will have to limit the number to that.
We will have to let the tyres down at the meeting point, as there will be no where between there and the tracks to park 9 Prado's. Its only a couple of km's to the first track so this is not an issue.
We will probably travel a little slower than planned but that is not a problem. More vehicles to help get us unstuck and laugh at us
OK, my first PP trip for the year and as usual, a great bunch of people turned up. A few faces I had not met before and a couple of us that had been on a few trips together. All up we had 3 x 150, 3 x 120 and a solo 90.
We only did one track for the day, which may not seem like much but it took over 6 hrs and there were smiles all day, required mod lists were updated, side steps were adjusted and a whole heap of fun was had. It was interesting to watch how the different vehicles handle each section and how one vehicle suited one section and then worked harder on the next section.
My adjusted side step (mine weren't the only ones), I should use a spotter next time.
I have to admit that Ourimbah is much nicer when its dry and we could not have driven what we did if it was wet (like my last trip). Having a good spotter certainly helped and a few people were pleasantly surprised were their Prado’s could go.
We drove as far as we were prepared to go on the track, even though I know that glen-ep and willade have completed this track, we all decided against trying and had lunch but did enjoy watching a solo 4 Runner having a go at what I think is called the Can Opener and its easy to work out why (video to come).
We had one recovery on the way out, which showed the value in travelling in a group and possibly using a spotter. Plenty of recovery gear and using the winch from the Prado behind. I won't mention the brand of winch it was that didn't work.
Anyway, after a day of running up and down hill, a beer is tasting very nice
Cheers for a great day out - thanks guys - and for not minding that I was the only one to bring my better half. It was a sort of last minute decision for her to come along and she had just as much fun as I and my 4 year old had! He's still talking about it!
Now to put some funds towards a much needed lift and locker now that I have tacit approval for the expenditure!
