I ended up Duck Creek Rd to O'Rielly's today, took the rough tracks when they appeared and got to test out some of the 4WD systems, then relised I never locked the centre diff, no probe though, H4 was fine for all of it, a new Ranger tore the from tyre off its rim on the same track the Prado cruised over in highway mode. Great day.-=2014 GXL D4D Auto Graphite, Firestone Airbags, ARB/Optima D34 Dual Battery, ARB UVP, TJM Airtech Snorkel=-

Just got back from Bribie. Good day out although the wind was a bit cold and blowy.
Had a chat with Cookie120 next to the WWII relics and a long chat with SimonW on our way back down the beach. Our kids all had a play together and got on great exploring the dune and swinging from the trees.
We drove up the beach to the end of the island (as far as you can drive anyway), then back down, checked out a few of the lagoons, had an early lunch tucked in behind the dunes at Mermaid Lagoon. The kids had a play and off we went again back down the beach. We went through town and did the inland track south to north. Most of it was easy as but there were a couple of soft areas that needed a bit more right foot. We then chatted to Cookie120 and went back down the beach again where we met up with SimonW and his family.
Great day out and now have a couple of tired kids. Mission accomplished.
Here's a few pics we took during the day:

Had a great first visit to Bribie beach in our new car. Have been to Moreton and Fraser heaps of times, don't know why I saved the easiest until last?
Drive up from Bris northern suburbs was awful care of the little terrorists (two 4yo and a 6yo) fighting it out in the middle row. With my composure about to boil over the coffee van at the Woorim beach access was a god send. Asked for a double rum, but settled on a tall cap to calm the nerves.
Ssssssssss tyres down to 20 and we are away. Came across BiLLz0r on the access track and had a quick mid-road introduction.
Drove half way up beach and parked up for lunch and play. Prado took it all in its stride. No worries. Dragged the belly in a few of the deeper ruts but powered through.
BiLLz0r dropped in as we were packing up. Had a good chat and kids went off and had a play like old mates.
Started drive home 4hrs after low tide. Still plenty of beach left. Had the brakes firing off a few times as I cut from one set of wheel ruts to another. Turned off TRC but brakes still fired a couple of times. I guess that there's another button to turn off somewhere? (Was never a problem with my 2004 1kz)
Was a great day. Will be doing it again soon.

But if your tyres are right it shouldn't cut in at all, depends on how fast you are travelling in the ruts. Not saying you were, but most people go way too fast on the sand for fear of bogging. Its totally not necessary and a calm slow idle through all soft spots and beach entry exists is all that is needed.
Traction control is valuable, stability is not and shouldn't interfere at slow speeds anyway as there is nothing to stabilise, it's meant for higher speeds 40kmh+ and on the beach you'll only reach these speeds on the hard sand which is the same as a paved road (where the stability never cuts in). Again, the soft stuff just slow right down and idle through.
I learnt this technique in my subarus I had before the Patrol and then the Prado, and the Prado is very much a large subaru with you don't touch the diff or traction buttons.
But of course, turn em all off if your old school and enjoy!-=2014 GXL D4D Auto Graphite, Firestone Airbags, ARB/Optima D34 Dual Battery, ARB UVP, TJM Airtech Snorkel=-
