Bellthorpe Daytrip Run....
Headed off again for a bit of a explore up through Bellthorpe SF again to see what has changed up that way. Took the zook instead of the Disco (Can't take the Prado as it's the missus' daily driver) as I'm more confident of what the little zook can do where as with the Disco, I'm still a bit nervous as to its ability and getting stuck up at Bellthorpe by myself in the Disco is not a good thing..... plus I had to find out what was causing the "Engine Check" light to come on from my previous H'way trip. It doesn't seem to come on when driving around town.... Well, is wasn't long b4 the engine check light came so it was time to pull over to determine what the error code was.... There was a few codes there but the thought was Code-13 which was the "O2" sensor. I reset it and set off again and by the time I got to the top of the Bellthorpe Range, the Engine Check light came on again. This time, jus the one code which was pointing to the O2 sensor..... I stopped to check some connections, etc b4 heading off again. It stayed off until the drive home along the Hwy.....
Back on track and I turned onto Beacon Rd and then some sidetracks which bought me to 2 steep declines with the easier one veeing left and the harder/steeper one going straight..... I went left, and followed it down to where it ment up with the harder track. I stopped and went for a little walk up the steep track for a look.... Thought the little zook could do it so back into the car and off I went.... Managed to get up the 1st section but it was a little harder than I expected... this is when I realised I hadn't aired down. After airing down it was off to do the rest. It seem to get steeper as I went on and I had to reverse down once or twice and take a better line and I eventually got to the top but not w/o some carnage.... One large tear in my Front LHS tyre..... bugger.... Lucky it was my old tyres and not my good ones
Without anymore spares and the flat not being repairable, I decided to take the easier track back down to where I was previously and then stopped and went for a walk down the track to ensure that I could safely get down and also get back up if req'd.... The track was steep & dry and very loose/slippery but it was the shortest way out, so I took the gamble and headed down in the Vitara, sliding and what not but reached the bottom safely and made my way across the creek. This is where I saw a little track heading off to the right, so me being the curious type followed it to see where and how bad it got..... Reached as far as I was prepared to drive and got out and walked the rest...... WOW, what a track for those who wanted a good challenge of a hillclimb..... But not for me being by myself, so it was back in the car and back down and up the other way. The Track turned out to be in ok condition and I exited back onto the main dirt road and made my way out and back towards Woodford & home......
