Alas I said no panel damage but unfortunately that didn’t include mechanical damage and the first incident was the little Zook was wounded badly on one of the step climbs with a broken front right CV. As it was broken inside the boot, he could carry on in 2 wheel drive.

We stopped for morning tea at Horseshoe Bend, a great little camping spot out of the way but no amenities. It would be great here when the park is busy as it is an out of the way place.

We were making our way right up the top of the ridge line of the LCMP. With the recent weather there were a number of trees down like this one.

So we cracked out the chainsaw to cut the log and Sam winched it out of the way. Track maintenance completed and we continued on our way with everybody pitching in.

Further along we found some cracking mud holes

      Video of the mud hole

Plenty of animals out there including Cows, Wallabies, Deer, Hares and Birds. ( and the PigLizzard…)

A couple of good creek crossings were next, we checked the depth and all seamed ok.

        Videos of the creek crossings

We then proceeded up the ridge line for a descent into Frying pan falls. The photos do not do it justice on how steep some of the parts are. Walking up and down these certainly were working off the beer ( well that's my story and I am sticking to it!)

SEQ – Weekend at Land Cruiser Mountain Park -29th & 30th November - The Return

We stopped at Frying pan falls for lunch, and there was a bit more water in it than last time we were there.

After lunch we did tracks like Frying pan road, Ironpot, Cooper corner, Hilux hill, Troopie trail and covered numerous tracks. Just a great day out. The Prado and the 2-3 wheel Zook still managed to do what we asked every time. We bid farewell to Sam ( Happy birthday mate!) and we continued on to squeeze in as many tracks as we could

Video of me climbing Troopie Trail

Finally at the end of the day we made our way back to the office to sign out and air-up.

A great trip a couple of the standout highlights for me
          - Prados being a great all rounder
          - The little Zook kept on going even after damage,
          - PigLizzard…
          - Beers with mates
          - The mud holes and water crossings
          - Staring death in the face at hilux hill….

I did say it would be a medium level trip with no panel damage expected. But unfortunately we paid the price with some light mechanical damage including a broken CV, Suspected broken engine mount, broken inner wheel guard and sheered off some mudflaps again..

Alas everything has to come to an end. I wanted to say thanks to Rob & Ethan, Matt and Sam for such great company and making it a fantastic weekend camping and 4wding ( 2wding for the Zook in the end.. ) Some great memories guys.

I have a feeling we will be back for the 3rd and final installment in the new year to finish of a few of the tracks we missed.

          Cheers
          Robert

We also found piglizzards nemesis 'mad cow' who we made light work of and kept the boys from going hungry. I also scored a new badge for the bar.

                      Cheers Matt

Thank goodness for shock stoneguards ! They're worth their weight in gold. I saw this, this morning while cleaning the mud off from last weekend. It must have been one of those banging noises I heard that I tried to ignore. I actually think I know the culprit. A rock I should have seen & could have definitely driven around. Oh well we live & learn
