upcoming watagans trip

i'm planning a watagans trip towards the end of may or start of june.
it will be a day trip.
probably starting with a meet-up at 8am (due to not alot of daylight hours) at spark rd. just off the freeway.
will them head out and into the tracks, and up to Muirs lookout for lunch.
then more tracks and finally come out up near morriset near freeway.
that way it's easy for anyone from sydney or newcastle that want to come.
the tracks will include; rocky hill climbs, deep puddles, clay hill climbs,
rutted sections, and anything else we can find.
still got another 2 recci's to complete before the route is set,
but this was yesterdays bit


this trip will be suitable for both std and mod 4wd's.

i'll set the final date after the next recci's, as the entire trip hasn't been checked.

we'll being going up there for a look on the saturday, so yes
the saturday is out.

anyone interested, let me know and we'll try to sort out which weekend,
will be best for everyone/most.

I'll give you some names of the roads you can find them 8)

Don't know if you have been to any of these yet, if they are still open or not harvesting,

slippery rock road
daniels point (and chicken road - rock crawling)
whitemans road
farrells road
powerline track or point to point
fenceline track
rope road
sawpit road
waverock road
cutrock road
lemontree road
tunks trail

There are some times chicken routes around via the normal forest roads.

PLEASE NOTE: Some of these roads can do serious damage to your car and ego

yes lemontree is on the route. :wink:
cutrock rd and others are is still to be recci'ed.
this is being done in 2 weeks on bikes, before sending cars down.
so yes i have riden alot of these tracks over many years,
and i know what some of these tracks can and will do.
and i'm trying to pick good and challenging tracks,
without damaging vehicles.
that is why i can't set the date. not until the course has been
riden and tested with vehicles the following weekend.
slippery rock i don't think we'll get std trucks up.

the problem with the watagans is if you get any rain the tracks go from being easy to extremely hard with about 50mm of rain.

Slippery rock left mud skids on my bullbar and bumper and reshaped my seconf fuel tank :cry:

The bog hole (and the bypass tracks) at the bottom of Dainels Point road is almost impassable.

NPWS will be closing off quite a few of these roads this years some time

That's where i'll be all weekend, taking people for joy rides around the Test Track. Might even have the zook back on the road by then out hopefully.

that's good to hear as my 2nd vehicle for the test drive,
may not be able to make it. find out closer to the date.
