WA - Heading North for School Holidays busy?

Hi guys,

Being the cold time of the year, how is it up near Kalbarri / Steep Point / Monkey Mia with the crowds. We plan to get off the hardtop and into some more of the 4x4 only areas for camping. Is it busy this time of year?

Last thing we want to do is make the drive to find we are stuck in a over crowded caravan park etc.

We are off to Cape Range National park. We booked a site six months ago. It gets very busy up there.

G'day mate,
near Kalbarri is a great off road adventure park on a station on the murchison river at Murchison Off road Aventure. M.O.A. signage off main highway just before the bridge over the Murchison river. Heaps of tracks and camping all along the river banks with campfires and hot showers back at the homestead.

Steep point will be largely free, but you must book online before hand, can have campfires. ( the baech camping at shelter bay is the go) Air down VERY low for the first long sand hill climb if you are towing a camper
On the way to Steep point you go past Tamala station where you can camp. nice spot too

Monkey mia will most probably be full and is very sterile and exy, but off the main rd from Denham to Monkey mia is Francois Peron Np where you'll find a camp site free somewhere. Big Lagoon gets busy 'cause its close to the entrance but if you head further up to Gregories or Bottle bay you'll be right. No campfires in the NP though
Weather will be a little warmer but still not swimming weather and you can still get rain from the south right up to Shark bay in July. but is generaly very pleasant

We are doing a 3 night trip to MOA out of Kalbarri post the holidays with a night at ellendale pool on the way back. We have three kids and they love the places and have fun exploring the areas.

4 weeks north of Meeka starting Monday. Hopefully, I won't see anybody.
