WA - Captain Fawcett Track Access

Hi all,

Been a while since ive logged on so gday to all me ol mates

Just wondering if anyone has been down the Cap Fawcett track in the last couple of months? I got the following from the Parks and Wildlife website. Im not sure how to interpret it. Does it mean the track is completely impassable or is there a way around?

I have a property in Williams which we intend to stay at so the trip from Nanga to Quindanning would be good.

Any advice from previous trekkers would be appreciated and I do intend to call the P&W office this week to suss it out.

Current Track Conditions – Winter 2015

The South Junction Form section of the track is closed for winter 2015.
The open section of the track should only be attempted by skilled and experienced drivers in suitably equipped, high clearance 4WD vehicles. Heavy use in wet conditions has resulted in significant damage to the Fawcett Track over recent years. The track is now more difficult. The department is working with the 4WD community in planning and undertaking necessary track repairs.

I went during the summer in a standard 150. Some of the holes were big and the roo bar hit some on the approach in. Most had little side tracks.
I wouldnt want to attempt this during the wet. I know at certain times of the year the big 4" lifted big tyre guys cant make it through.

Most of the big holes was in the near the start of the track.
I havent been for a couple of months now though.

I did the track about 6 weeks ago. It was very wet and some of the bog holes are extremely hard to get out of. Only highly modified rigs with massive commitment made it out. I got bogged on the chicken track......so did everyone else. Only after we finished the track we found out it was actually closed, but that did not stop the 20-30 cars we saw.
