Saturday gave me the opportunity to head bush for the day with a few people from work.
We met up at Whitfield and headed along the rose river road to Smalls track, where we turned left, aired down and began climbing up to the Black Range track.
There were concerns that the recent rain may have made this track a bit tricky, but that was not the case. Once on the black range track we headed east-ish climbing and cruising our way over toward Lake Buffalo.

Unfortunately, there was a bit too much fog for any views. We swung left off the Black Range track onto (INSERT TRACK NAME HERE) which took us down to the Lake Buffalo-Whitfield Road (through some nice mud!). We stopped at a little clearing here for a BBQ lunch.

We then ventured up some very unused tracks around the pine forest. These tracks had some nice steep climbs to get us back onto the Black Range Track.

Once Back up on the Black Range, we headed west, back tracking, to Whitfield. I had a bit of a moment when the Prado got very sideways heading down a hill toward a washout - Locked brakes you see, and a brain that refused to let my lift my foot. I also found that my ground clearance was fine heading up one particular rocky climb, but on the way back down, I crunched and scraped more times than I can count. (So guess who's now seriously looking into a 2inch lift)
We decided to follow the Black Range Track all the way out, rather than using Smalls track.
