VIC Late August trip planning, winter ideas?

Looking for a good spot for a trip 27-30th August. Will be leaving Melbourne Wednesday night and coming home Sunday

4-5 Vehicles, all reasonably modified for touring, ie 2" lift, all terrains, winches. No one has muddies or lockers

Currently thinking of heading to Robe in SA because we've never done sand before and worried most of areas in Vic will be too wet for our setups.

Other front runner is Border Track in Big Desert.

Not afraid of a bit of cold and mud but not into thrashing through bog holes.

I've done Dargo, Walhalla, Otways, Toolangi, Strathbogie, Big River, Sapphire Coast/Croajingalong in the last couple of years.

Have to ask the s.a boys about the beaches that time of the year, I think border & big sounds good.
I'd be thinking anywhere warmer than here then lol........

The Border Track will give you some sand without heading all the way down to Robe/Beachport. At the bottom end you can have your fun in the mud and bog holes if you like, not sure though if the tracks are overgrown. If they are then bush pinstripes will come into it!

There are a couple of BIG dunes, that according to a very well traveled PP'er, rival Big Red...

Big Desert on the VIC side of the border is somewhere I've always wanted to get back to - just got a small taste of it a few years back and liked what I found!
