  • Looks like I could be the first....

Great day - the perfect weather. Thanks to the organisers. 14 Prados and a couple of 'Others' (at least they were Toyotas). A great turnout!!

    A couple of photographs.....

How did you go crossing the river - who waded and who drowned?

Also thanks Chippy for the maps - they were great. To the couple of people that got my maps - if the DVDs don't work - let me know (give me your address) and I'll post another copy.

    • Firstly .... what an awesome crowd this WA PP mob is .....

Go for a gnarly mud run and we get a great turnout !

Advertise that we are drioving through mud ... to get to a pub ... and we get half the population of Perth turnout

With the handfull who couldn't make it we only wound up with 16 vehicles .... 14 Prados, a Hilux and Gary's trusty 80 series.

... and for you 90 series guys .... we found one
Waylib showed up in his 90 ... and his young bloke spent the day driving (to get his hours up on his L plates) ..... and he was bloody brilliant. I wish all kids could get out and learn to drive like this.

We went for a bit of a trundle along the newly opened Fawcett Track .... from Dwellingup through to Quindanning (which just happens to have a great little pub).

The screenshot, at this resolution, doesn't quite do it justice. That's Dwellingup in the top left corner ... and Quindanning down in the bottom right.

The track log and waypoint file are available if anyone wants or copy.

      The cast included ....

It took a while finding a spot where we could get a group pic.
How's this for a conga line.

Then, eventually, I figured I needed to get up higher ... so it was up on the roofrack

Then we found a decent bit of space where we could line them up for a pic ...... but we still ran out of room.

Do you remember this little spot ... from our Labour Day longweekend trip to Hoffmans Mill ??? The boys in the background are playing in the water crossing that you can see in the next pic. In March it was ankle deep.

... or perhaps this little water crossing 3 months later ... this is the same spot. In June it was waist high.

This is the same spot again .... except today the river was several hundred metres across ..... and that beautiful flat bit of ground where we had our supper (back in March) ..... is now under a lot of water.

We got to have a play in some mud puddles

Or perhaps you'ce seen our favourite lunch and camping spot by the Murray RIver ... the one with the kid's favourite rope swing ....

Well this was it today .... the rope swing is still out there ... but you would need a boat to get to it. Needless to say ... there was no room to get a group of Prados down there ..... no room to park

Then we get to my highlight of the day !

Steve and Karina have been busy with the design and embroidery .... and brought me along a beaut new Pradopoint.com shirt.

I was so stoked I just had to peel my gear off right there in the carpark .... so I could get a pic with the new shirt on.

OK ... so maybe I'm no Elle McFurseal .... but the shirt still looks great.
      Thanks Steve and Karina.

Thanks to the crowd who showed up for an awesome day out. It wasn't too gnarly and there was nothing broken ..... there was a pub lunch in the middle .... and more kids havin' fun than you could poke a stick at.

Thanks also to Tyler .... who had his first go at Navigating ..... and did an awesome job.

JeffS brought along a mystery guest ... Matt White
It was great to catch up with Matt again.

... and just think ..... we still had a group who couldn't make it ..... Sharky, Justo, Fishnut, Mototrim, Cuda ...... etc etc etc

Ya just gotta luv WA

      Cheers
      Chippy

Nah mate ... number plates don't count.

They're a sacrificial ornament on a Sovereign bar

          • Hello Strangers!!

Boo hoo hoo hoo hoo    .....looks like we missed an awesome day out 4WDriving, a chance to meet up with a bunch of our friends and an opportunity to meet some new WA PP'ers.

We are totally amazed by the hightened levels of water - wow!!

The maroon marauder wasn't slacking off either, we were out tackling the wonderful outdoors too! We were out on day 2 of my 2-day driving course hitting the bush terrain up in Mundaring. Very pleased to report I tackled all the steep ascent and descent climbs as well as all water crossings. A few more skills under my belt for the next trip.......perhaps we could organise that advanced skills 4WD day trip that someone mentioned previously????

            Go WA!

            • WOW - That shot of the Prados is an eye opener. Hmmm, definitely going to have to make teams up for the GTG as 50 cars is going to be a handful.

I think teams of 10 are they way to go after looking at this.

Great photos and write ups, you WA PPers know how to have fun.

              • That's a good call Mav.

With 16 its OK if you have a few along who know the area.

But Alice???? you would need a few Sub trip leaders with GPS and tracking exp. or it could get cramped.

Back to today. Thanks all for a top day.
I will be hitting the jet washer tomorrow for sure. Matt and I decided that Steve (from Steve and Sandra fame) will need a new Nick, Al bundy, How he gets away with the things he says is beyond me...

Top turn out and great weather after what we have had lately. A good combination of the tracks out there and to combine a pub lunch,,,, mmmmmmm.

                Thanks all.
Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.

                                HI all

Sorry I missed it. I passed you all when I was heading back into Dwellingup from Nanga, did try to get you on CH16, but no joy. Was very tempted just to turn around and follow, except had to get some stuff for the inlaws in town.

Chippy, could you please pm me the track file from OZI, will load it up and have it ready for next trip.
