Sunday 6/7/08
An early start for this trip with a 8am roll out of bed and hit the road by 9am, well more like 9:30am when my mate Mark rocked up we hit the road. We only drove about 2klms when we were into the dirt and tyres were deflated ready for our adventure. Id driven this area NW from town last Sunday after discovering them on Google Earth. That trip was late in the arvo so at least we managed to get some nice pics of the sunset. Although we covered what we drove last time the tracks looked they went on and on so now was the time to find our were they end up.

We followed the track NW until we reached the boundry fence for the Simpson National Park then we stared to head in a Northerly direction before heading back towards town. It seemed like a loop track which suited us well as we were hopeful to be home for lunch. The track got abit narrow in places and started to climb up a few of the ridges. In some spots I had to guide Mark through a few tight areas as he hadnt yet upgraded his suspension and the plastic sidesteps were dragging on everything.

We ended up stopping for a break on top of this ridge that gave us great veiw of Alice, The Gap and the Ranges. Im pretty sure this is where the 4WD Action photographed their shots for 4WDOTY issue (check it out Issue 118 Page 036).

It was time to head home, the kids were tired and due for a sleep and we planned to come back soon for a sunset drive sometime. The descent from the ridge was alot of fun with a few tight spots and some drop offs. Mark needed spotting a few times as he had clearence issues, but in the end we made the entire track without a recovery or incident.
