SouthOz get together II (weekend away)

With the good turn out at the SA day trip and the interest shown for further events, the wife and I thought we'd throw the idea of a SA PP weekend away out there and see if there was any interest.

An initial idea we had was Murray Sunset NP inc the northern section of the border track, Sunset track, Underbool track, Nowingi Line track and maybe into Hattah Kulkyne NP to cool off by the river.

Depending on itinerary 2-3 nights under the stars.

Good intro for newbie’s into remote area travel and sand driving. Suitable for standard vehicles.

All ideas and time frames welcome at this stage.....

Sounds good there MickL. Would be interested if I can get an extra day away from work and the Minister is in agreance. Done the southern section of the Border track a couple of times so heading north would be good. If I'm in then I might have a few tag alongs (non prado by Toyota, none of this Pootrol or other garb) unless anyone has any objections.

Will will not be avilable at all during September or October due to work commitments. This means I will probably be working 7 days a week during this time. Lucky me :cry:

The basic trip outline you have suggested sound reasonable. If going into Hattah Kulkyne then probably either North Border Track or down to the Konardin Track finishing at some dry/salt lakes.

A great idea! We are thinking of something similar - but maybe down at KI. That said, havent been where you have proposed so any "new" place is good IMHO.

We really enjoyed Sat - nice to be with a bunch of great folk who aren't irresponsible but share similar interests and keen to help out beginners. Helps break the ice.

As for timing - probably later half of the year (Oct/Nov??) Who know, if the weather is half decent, i might bring the ski boat and that might confuse some of you deciding "to go 4WD or have a go at skiing....hmm...."

No worries guys... just seeing who's interested at this stage...

Any ideas welcome. Other ideas we've talked about are something in the Flinders or even Googs track via the Gawler Ranges.

Really depends on what you all think and the timing of the whole thing.

We aren't free till early August at this stage.

Don't be shy SA PP people.(other states welcome too ).. even if you don't have all the gear we may be able to help you out....

I thought I'd chuck up a few ideas (gathered from yourself and stuff I've found here and there):

• Murray Sunset National Park with the possibility of Hattah Kulkyne National Park[/*:m:3r6i3v0y]
• Bendlyby Ranges[/*:m:3r6i3v0y]
• Wyperfield National Park (Milmed Rock Track sounds interesting) and onto the Grampians (Sorry but not descent map detail available. Look on Google Earth/Maps or somewhere else)[/*:m:3r6i3v0y]
• Robe-Beachport[/*:m:3r6i3v0y]
• Chowilla Regional Reserve and up into Danggali Conserveration Park[/*:m:3r6i3v0y]

Just a list of some ideas for hopefully short trips (2-4 days) out of Adelaide. I havn't done these before so I can not comment on the tracks and their suitability.

All good places by the looks. I'll keep this thread bumped up and see who's interested in what over the next few weeks.

Once we decide on a location we can start working on a date and time frame that suits most people.

Gonna have to count me out until probably September for any trips. The only weekend I have off between now and then is 1st weekend of August. But I'll be venturing over to Elliston on the Eyre Peninsula for some salmon fishing

Keen to come along on one of the weekends, currently in Dual cab hilux, but soon to upgrade to Prado. Relatively new to this site, so keen to meet some people who enjoy Prados and the great oudoors
