Geebus mate, you guys have definitely had a rough trot up there...

I second micks thoughts on the turbo, there should be a few jap wreckers up around there as alot of imports come through QLD. I reckon the turbo would be the same as the one on Glens truck so definitely have a poke around in the yellow pages and see what you can find before shelling out 2K.

Hope you guys make it back in one piece.

how did you end up on the repair costs?
I would have thought it much less if it was just seal failure. $200 to $400 for labour, $100 for seal and gaskets.

Was it more than just a seal?

          Hi Deetoy,

It was more than just a seal. The bearings were shot, so it won't be as cheap as first thought, then add the cost of replacing all the gaskets for the pipework & exhaust manifold gasket. Aftermarket bearings & geniune gaskets. Getting it back tomorrow and helping FIL install it so hopefully running by wednesday.

          Cheers
          Joel

I had a thought that the turbo bearing may be stuffed due to not correctly idling down the motor i.e. turbo timer.

              I found this device.

Would people tend to agreed :?: I will be looking into a t/timer (keep an eye on fleabay)

i picked up my T-timer off ebay, $40. never fitted.
took 30-40 minutes start to finish to fit, and will help idle down the
turbo after heavy load (beach driving etc).
i wasn't able to see ya link. went nowhere
