  • A day trip and pub lunch for softroaders

Its an idea I had been playing around with for a while .......

Things have been getting hectic at work and a lot of folk are getting pretty stressed out.
The odd staff social activity can often help to re-energise flagging spirits ..... and I had been noticing a hell of a lot of 4WD badges in the carpark ....

So an idea began to germinate ...... what about a staff social activity that took a few of these guys off the bitumen ..... and offered the ultimate reward at the end of the drive ...... a pub lunch in front of a roaring log fire in an historic old pub.

The plan was to take a group of chalkies for a run through the Fawcett Track ........ from Dwellingup to the Quindanning Pub. Its a trip suitable for softroaders .... but offers a whole heap of variety if something a bit more challenging is required. To be able to encourage these guys out of suburbia it had to be a "No damage" trip ... which made the Fawcett Track an ideal choice.

A bit of rain, late in the week, had the excuses flying thick and fast ..... "I've developed a life threatening in-grown toenail" ........ "Mum's cooking a lamb roast" ...... "I'm getting my hair done"

..... but we did wind up with a couple of daring adventurers take up the challenge.

We met up in Dwellingup ... just in time to catch the locals letting off a bit of steam ...

Anyone would think this is the first time the boys had seen trees

So .... of course ... we must chop them down

"Tyre pressures boys ..... you know you can let them down a little bit ..... and make it a more comfortable ride for your passengers .... "

Nothing too challenging ..... but some great scenery and a really pleasant trip after a little rain

The XTrail's 4x4 lock is fine ..... but having no low range makes some of the tracks quite interesting ....

..... and clearance could become an issue ...

The Scooby Doo made it too ...... but did a bit of grader work on the track

Its been a dry old month but I was still amazed to see how much the river level had dropped. The water crossing was a tad lower than when Leachy went wading through it.

... but, for some reason, the lads weren't quite as keen to cross

We did manage to find some other water crossing for them though

The boys had a ball .... and are really keen to go again .... probably run down the beach between White Hills and Myalup ....

... and I reckon once these pics go up in the staffroom there'll be a few more takers for the next trip.

    Cheers

Looks like the scooby doo was digging its way to China.

The best bit though is you all had fun and got out into the bush.

I reckon there's a chance ...... both boys were keen to have a play and see what their toys could do ..... and both did amazingly well.

Very rarely did they avoid the lines I was taking.

I'm keen to see how we go on a beach trip.

            Cheers

              Good one Chippy

I kind like the job the Subarus do keeping the tracks graded. The Landcruiser Traybacks and Subarus keep my fishing tracks well maintained.

Was this a case of Hubbys taking their Wives shopping trolleys out bush?
              Cheers

Hahaha... but if this helps them to convince their other half to upgrade to a Prado... then it was a very smart ploy!
