G'day from the land of the long white cloud....
It looks like this may be the first New Zealand trip report posted on this site. Unfortunately, my trusty camera-wife was not able to join me on this trip so this one has predominantly more scenery shots.
The trip was held in Woodhill forest - Northeast of Auckland. Nowadays there are not may places that are open to 4x4 enthusiasts but on the odd occasion the opportunities presents itself to see some of the restricted to public use areas.
There were 25 vehicles of all shapes, sizes and varying levels of customisation. And in between all of these oldies was a shiny Prado... "Are you fu&@ing crazy taking this thing off road" was the comments when they noticed the vehicle.... little do they know !!!

The trip started at 09:00 with the customary briefing and discussion about the safety and responsibilities of drivers.

On the way to the Forest entrance

A very nice trout location now marked on the GPS for future exploration

The views ahead - nothing serious yet - who knows what's to come...

![](http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n139/ajvanwyk/IMG_1691Medium.jpg)
At the top of the hill a quick stop for some photos

![](http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n139/ajvanwyk/IMG_1733Medium.jpg)
Back down to another promising fishing spot - some well deserved lunch & a beer or two
![](http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n139/ajvanwyk/IMG_1738Medium.jpg)
And lastly - it really wouldn't be an exiting day without some war stories...

Spoke to my local compliance officer today. There is currently no legislation in New Zealand restricting vehicles with side curtain airbags to have aftermarket / custom side steps....
Take a guess what mod I'm doing next !!!!!!!!!
