  • TRIP REPORT : Jefferys Track - Tasmaina

It’s taken a while to get this together, but on our summer trip to Tasmania, Pradopoint member Strahan and his wife were kind enough to take us out on one of their local tracks.

We met up at New Norfolk then headed off to the beginning of the track.

    The beginning of the track.

The track climbing the mountain was not overly challenging though there were a couple of hill climbs and sections to test the articulation.

Once over the mountain we descended into the lush valley and came out a great cabin owned by our hosts.

Many thanks to Bryce and Jacky for their wonderful hospitality.

Ahh, nice to revisit even if only through the web
I spent many hours/days on Jeffreys Track in my teens. I don't see any pics of you on "Rocky Tom" I believe the track was called - a side track, very rocky and kept us hanging off a winch cable for 51/2 hrs once
I think I'll have to meet up with Strahan when I'm over next!

Hope you had a good trip. I do miss Tassie when I see these trips!
    Cheers - Phil Taylor

Thanks for the Trip Report. Would love to take the family to Tassie some day. Love the old looking wood cabin in the forrest - must've been a real treat at the end of the day. 8)

            Re: Jefferys Track - Tasmaina

I will try to post pics of the day as well.

Its not a hard track but its close to town and you get to see what it looks like over the back of the mountain.

If anyone is heading this way let me know and we can try to arrange a trip. The cabin is a nice spot to stop and camp or stay in if you want a base to explore the Huon Valley.

There is another trail called the East-West which covers some of the mountain as well. You need to get a key but if anyones keen we can try to get hold it and give it a whirl.

Re: TRIP REPORT : Jefferys Track - Tasmaina

Yep, East - West is the one we used to play on and back then (probably 10-15 years ago) the key was pretty easy to get hold of.
I'll be in touch next time I'm down for a trip. Looking forward to more pics.
