This trip was one of those rare events that only pre organised 4wd clubs had the privilege of obtaining permission from the traditional owners. The club in question is the Outback 4wd club of Alice Springs. I manage to get an invite form the President JP as well as my good friend Mark (Happy Trails), sadly Mav and his family didnt attend this trip. All I can say about this is they missed a great trip.
The day started with a meet at Flynns Grave just out of town. 14 vehicles turned up, 2 more then approved although they still went ahead. A quick stop at Hermannsburg for refreshments then we aired down and hit the road. Due to the area being traditional lands, I cannot give too many details about how to get there, sorry. The drive in featured plenty of dusty tracks, a few wash outs and dry river bed crossings. In some sections you would swear that if you stopped in some of the deep bulldust you would be stuck for sure. We finally got to the river bed and saw these stunning rock formations.

Another 1/2 an hour on the track and we reached the waterhole. The first thing we all did is head down and go for a dip. It was 37'c and very hot, the water was the purfect temperture. Sadly though alchohol was banned on this trip due to the location, but if you wanted to you could have swam across the waterhole and headed up to Glen Helen Homestead for a few. Strangely nobody did.

Mark and I decided to hit the track home as the heat was starting to take is toll on us and the kids and also due to the lack of shade. A few folks had already left before us and had a chance to take some more pics on the way out.

All up it was a great trip, not to much of a challenge although some wheel clearence was needed as a stock 120 Prado found out. No bogged vehicles , no recoverys made, our vehicles where covered from top to bottom in red talcum power dust, we were a bit burnt but we had a blast,
