Re: Sun Jan 31 : NSW, Lidsdale SF & Marrangaroo NP area

    Glenn,
We are not staying at Winmalee, couldn't talk the missus into it however depending on what time we get home Sat night and a few other small issues I may make it solo or with the kids. Really won't know until Sunday morning so if I am not there by 7.45am at Richmond I won't be coming.

OK Mark, will catch up another time anyway if you can't make this trip.

Re: Sun Jan 31 : NSW, Lidsdale SF & Marrangaroo NP area

        TRIP REPORT:

Another excellent day out with some of the Pradopoint members :!:

4 vehicles today with deeozzy having to drop out at the last minute (hope everything is OK Oscar) but with MDS69 coming along on todays trip.

We met up with JeffH at Lidsdale State Forest just off the Gt. Western Hwy where we aired down.

We worked our way through the forest into Marrangaroo NP which by the looks used to be a sheep/cattle property until a few years ago. A lot of the land has been cleared of course but is still quite picturesque. Came across this old shed

Several good tracks in the area; we found this little hill climb which provided some more 4wdriving experience for Piet & Renee

Some very steep country around here

The track took us down to the Cox's River

From the river we climbed up the mountain & eventually found our way to Mt. Walker. The track to the summit looked to be very hard going so we walked up to the trig point. Great view of Lithgow & surrounding areas

We stopped for lunch at this point & had barely finished when it poured with rain! After the rain passed we retraced our path back down the mountain. Came across this 80 series cruiser which had seen better days....

        Mt. Walker from Marrangaroo

Then it was back into the forest to explore some of the maze of tracks

The rain started again so we decided to call it a day & aired up, said our goodbyes & headed for home.

As always a great day was had by all, good to meet Piet & Renee & I'm sure you guys will be with us on another trip soon.

Re: TRIP REPORT : NSW, Lidsdale SF & Marrangaroo NP area

The green Prado will be me - Boomslang
The suspension was done by Mannell mototors - top job and the best mod that I have done to the truck. I goes very well with the Cooper ST tyres which gave me a few mm's as well.
                    All OME/Nitro Charger components
                    Front, 90000/884
                    Rear, 60005/896

                    Height measurements are:
                    Before fitment
                    740/745
                    780/780
                    After fitment
                    825/825
                    855/850
                    After 500km
                    820/820
                    850/850

The ride is a little bumpy in town but with the camper connected and loaded during our Googs track trip it was perfect.
                    Cheers Piet (and Renee)

wow thats lifted up a bit. i only got about half of that at the front. good feedback on Mannell. have been meaning to give them a go one day. Have dealt with ARB Artarmon in the past but they dont think outside the square one bit. And theyre tightar$es offering stuff all discounts on large purchases.

Re: TRIP REPORT : NSW, Lidsdale SF & Marrangaroo NP area

I had almost a 100,000km on the clock when I did the lift so the old suspension may have contributed to the extra lift. On a new car the affect maybe less.
                        Cheers

Cant say ive been blown away by it but overall an improvement. Its still early days yet. i wanted packers but ARB wouldnt fit them in the back but thats only a minor gripe. I'll see how it settles.

on saturday I had to gun it from home to Lithgow in the p!ssing rain along Bells LoR. the dips are handled much better, cornering lean is much better, front end grip has decreased somewhat due to stiffer setup (which was interesting on some highspeed bends). pot holes which previously would have crashed through are now a mere thud.

offroad, bumps dont throw the vehicle all over the place especially the front. clearance is great. theres no huge noticeable increase in articulation but thats probably offset a bit by the increase in height.
