Well the trip is over and let me start with the theme for the entire trip...........
    RAIN
The drive up was uneventful as the roads up to Bundy arent bad at all.

The park in Maryborough was simply excellent, close to all amenities and a very clean and tidy park with the best showers I have had in a while.
The drive through sites are roomy and well set up and the park is extremely inexpensive ($32 for myself, wife and 3 kids)

The drive up was great however the road between Bundy and Agnes is not the best.
I would add that if you have small kids that the distance that Agnes is away from everywhere can be an issue.

Having said that the Park is beautilful a real little boutique park with a great set up and excellent coffee shop.

The beach is close and I must say if you want the safari tent style set up the ones at this camp are excellent. This is the view from the back of our site

Deepwater National Park and Hervey bay to follow

      Re: Agnes Water September 2010

Due to the rain we took a number of trips

Gladstone ....wouldnt rush back there....but does have Lake awoonga nearby

Bundy.....good location with lots of amenities however its about 3 hours return between these locations.

On one of the semi dry days we took a drive through Deepwater National Park.

Not going to try your vehicle real hard even in the wet but was very nice.
My favourite was the old 1970's Millard Van in one of the campgrounds that was pulled in by a ford falcon sedan. I would have liked to see then get those vehicles in and out again i would suggest the falcon may have had a dozer blade on the front for the trip!

On the way back we had 3 nights at the Pialba Park at Hervey Bay. Cant say enough about this location. Look for sites 17 tp 20 for beach front with a slab for van and annex. Right next door is the new "Wetside Centre" which is a waterpark...here is the surprise...its free and would actually be worth paying entry for. Just FANTASTIC for the kids and if you want some fun try the wave machine($5 for 4 minutes) that is just a barrel of laughs for kids and adults.

If you want to go to the beach it is calm for the kids and really feels like you have the whole place to yourself. Add to this the expanse of cycle ways accross the waterfront and the money the council is obviously spending to do up the paths and the amenities and kids areas. Hervey bay is well on the way to being a must go place if you have kids.
      Our Park site

On a note the Hervey Bay hotle that is behind the Pialba park has a sunday $2 steak or fish and chips meal. You will pay an extra $2 for chips and salad and $1 for sauce. We ordered 5 meals and had drinks on a sunday evening there for the sum total of $30. The steaks are nice the fish a little dry but if you have small kids 1 between 2 would be the way to go due to the large size of the meal. We ordered 1 per child and I nearly had to be wheeled back to the van!
      Anyway thats my trip report hope its not too long winded and to Summarise;
      Maryborough -
      Agnes Water -
      Gladstone -
      Bundy -
      Deepwater -
      Hervey Bay -

Sounds like you had a great time.

What brand is your awning screen?

          Hi

          JAG Canvas I think at Jimboomba very very good quality and a really good price however I would fit an awning deflapper first (the one with the long bar thats the awning slides into) and then get the awning fitted to that I am not a fan of the clips for each of the end units but the quality of the mesh and the amount of wind, rain and sun it keeps out is amazing. i have some more photos;

I acually bought poles for the long unit and can stand it up to use as extra sun area for the kids

Just found this on Ebay it looks like the same guy and the location is familiar

              Hi

Site number was 22 with either side good however 21 had a rock plinth in front so did make it hard for people to park.

Be aware that the Camp Fuhrer that prowls the park will not allow an awning behind your van in a space that has no sites or anything to prevent you from having one there.

Be aware at 1770 that at dusk midgies and mossies will feast!

They were not bad at all at Agnes as the park is regularly sprayed for mossies and midgies.

The Agnes Water Tavern is nice but overpriced. For a nice meal I recommend Kahunas for their Pizza and huge kids meals.

Also go up to the info centre the lady there is extremely helpful with a lot of information.

Hey thanks for that, some good pointers there we have heard about the park police we will see if we can make it through a few days without being spoken to with my noisy kids, started the vitamin b6 for 1770 and have lots of bushman so cannot wait thanks again...
