    Re: Gordon Country Camping Feb 12th & 13th 2011 -

A big thank you to all that come along, my wife and I had a great weekend. The Prado is now all clean as is the camper.

Most of us headed up or met up there on Friday Night with the exception to Fozzy and JohnHGH. We had the Banshee Valley area to ourselves, a great spot with a nice flowing creek along one side (it came in handy to wash the mud off, more on that later).

    Those who attended
    Rogerthatv2
    JoshF
    DayTripper
    Snaga
    Chas0234
    Wackoo
    Johnhgh
    Fozzy
    Blake

After waking on Saturday morning Snaga did a bit of a run to check out a few of the tracks that we could play on for the day, after he returned most of us headed out for a run. We went east along a track that took us to the gate to the Main Range national part, nice track, a little tight in some areas and slippery in others and I found out the hard way, poor wheel placement and brakes at the wrong time had my 150 sitting with all 4 wheels stuck in some great ruts. Wackoo to the rescue and he snatched me out, thank god to as JoshF was trying to push tree's down to get in front of me in his Pajero

We then headed back for some lunch, this is where I took the chance to go for a swim to get the mud off of me that stuck like something to something!

We then headed out again to across the other side of Inverramsy Road, Snaga led us to a great creek crossing that slowed us down a bit, we all made it though with exception to one, after a few goes at it we pulled out the winch and pulled Fozzy up. He had it the 2nd time but hit the brakes just a tad to early and lost it. After a brief time with the winch Fozzy was up and then it was DayTrippers turn, it is the first time I have seen him air down! He came through with a little speed from the mightly suzi and straight up and over.

We explored a little more and found some good hill climb areas to have a play but had to cut it short and head back to meet the ever so lovely Sandy to pay out monies (can you pick the sarcasm here), Sue the owner is great but Sandy needs some assistance with personality and it really showed on this trip. She did not turn up but John did, we watched him set up and then dumped the girls and headed out for another play. Sidesteps should have stayed at home! Snaga stopped and had a chat to another Prado owner who told him about a quarry, we headed there and the below video is what we got up to.

All in all it was a great weekend with some great people. Thanks all for coming along and sharing Lawry's and I favourite camping spot. We plan to head back in a month's time so if you are keen let me know and I shall post some dates.

Cheers Daniel and Lawry AKA Rogerthatv2.

That is Blakes 150 GXL, nice looking 150. Has a little damage to it now but, 2 bent sidesteps and 2 popped front bar fog lights. All in a days play but.

I think we collectively hit a total of 5 bent side steps...make that 6

Both my previously modified steps have been re-modified this weekend

Thanks for a great weekend everyone.
Was great to hit the trails with some regulars and to meet some new faces as well.
I left the camp site at about mid day after tending to the fire... was still quite hot so put more than 30 or 40 lt of water over it. Kill two birds with one stone... no point carting all that water home.

I've had to get straight into work when I got home this arvo so I'll post some shots in the next day or so.

Oh, and the view and walk at the two lookouts was well worth the drive and 800 or so mts walk.
                  Cheers, Leon

Thanks to all for another very enjoyable weekend. As always the social aspect was terrific and I improved my driving skills courtesy of the combined group knowledge. Can't help but think that lowering down from 40 PSI might have prevented me from getting stuck in the first place but at the end of the day the vehicle was intact even if my ego was shot to pieces.

Looking forward to the next outing.

Gave me an excuse to use the winch but so thanks for that.
