Re: NSW: Sunday Feb 20 Newnes State Forest

    Hi Glen,
Good to hear you got towed home instead of to Lithgow. Hopefully you won't be off the road (no pun intended) for too long.

So a rear locker is next in the order of business I'm guessing

    Cheers,
    Declan.

Glad to see you got back home OK Glen. Yes constant 4wd can be a problem with a busted CV  That's why I had that rear locker installed in my vehicle, certainly reduces the strain on the CV's.

      Video is up

          Williade,
Yeah lockers are certinaly on the mind, and I'm already looking up diff ratios ;-) But it's a big "investment" so it'll really depend on whether the front diff is damaged or not.

          kav,
Check out my spare tyre cover in the video - it was bad omen from the start! I can't diss the Nissan owner though, he was very generous in lending me his ride this week

Mech says it's not CV's... but the front diff AND transfer/auto box. Hard to believe the auto box, going down to see..

              Re the diff:
              Front locker it is then

              Re the T-case:
               That sounds expensive.

Re: NSW: Sunday Feb 20 Newnes State Forest

Looks like it was a good day out!

I missed this as I usually only check out PP in my breaks and lunchtimes at work- so I didn't see the posts from Friday night and saturday!

We went up from Kurrajong through Wheeny Creek to Upper Colo, had swim then up through Mountain Lagoon (where IS the lagoon??) to Bilpin yesterday and would have enjoyed a day out with fellow PPers- hopefully next time!

                Cheers,

Brad the lagoon is large and quite scenic, it is located in the area bounded by Mountain lagoon rd and Sams Way. You will find Sams wy on your R/H side just after you leave the National park heading west from the colo end and enter the rural area.I think the lagoon maybe on private property. If you where to take the detour around Sams way you will find another track off to the R/H that takes you to the start of a hiking track [name escapes me at the moment ] that takes you down to the Colo /wollgambe rivers [a big trek] but along this track there is a L/H track that when gate is open which seems to be always ,this leads all the way out to a dead end from where it is a short walk out to a superb lookout over the Wollemi wilderness.[nothing difficult about the track ]
My home being bounded with a rear boundry to the Blue mts national park and a north view over the Wollemi park i sometimes find myself board and will take a run out there or sometimes i go to my other secret spots!!
I do want to join one of the trips organised through here but seem to always have something on.
                    cheers Russ
