  • ***SOLD*** 120W Folding Solar Panel (Please read description)

ITEM: Folding Solar Panel - SOLD
    CONDITION: Used
    REASON FOR SELLING: Upgrade
PRICE AND PRICE CONDITIONS: Currently on Ebay starting at $150-
EXTRA INFO: 120W (See disclosure below)

Great panel that has served us well for the past 18 months.
I have re-wired the terminals & Controller so everything is in good order.
It comes with approx 10mtrs of lead, with an anderson plug connector.
Storeage bag included, it does have a small tear in a corner..

Now this bit is important :

I purchased this 120W panel from LHP Power on Ebay (They are still selling this exact 120W setup for a buy-it-now price in the mid $300's)
I have used this panel to run my Engel fridge and LED lights in the Camper for up to 3 weeks and it performed well.
I recently upgraded to a second fridge and I thought the 120W panel would still be enough to recover my AGM battery daily (given good conditions)..... it didn't.
So when I got home on the advice of some forum members I tested the panel...... guess what..... it isn't a 120W, it sits somewhere between an 80W and a 100W.
I have tried now, multiple times to discuss this issue with LHP Power, but they appear not to be interested.
I have now upgraded to a new 200W system, from a known and trusted supplier.
SO..... In the spirit of complete disclosure, I advise you that this, despite being advertised and labeled as 120W panel..... is more likely an 80 to 100W...... BUT, if that will serve your needs, it is a great setup. Grab a bargin......

This is PICK-UP ONLY, I am located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

Payment and Pickup must be completed within 7 days. Cash on pickup is fine.

I know that from my experience with solar panels for homes, the rated power is only applicable when the cell temp is at 25degc and obviously when the panel is perpendicular to the sun when the sun is at its highest point in summer. The cell temp is usually 15 - 20 degC above ambient. With every degree above 25degC, you will need to apply a temp coefficient/factor. So you probably need to do the test at 10degC ambient in the height of summer. Hope this info assists with your sale

          Hi amts,

          Yes you are correct.....
Without going into a tirade about LHP Power...... There is a large amount of discussion (now) about these guys selling panels that are not what are advertised....... and they know it. Most people just would not pick up the difference between an 80W and a 100W.

My private messages don't seem to be going through

Will you take $150 buy it now? I can pick up this weekend and you will save a bit on eBay fees

                Thanks Matty,

I have it set as a quick 3 day auction, finishing on Sunday..... think I will just let it run.
It is still a good buy at the Buy-it-now price.

No worries. If you change your mind just let me know.

I would bid but the auction ends to late for me to pick it up.

Heat does nasty things to a solar panels output so I find with mine (on the roof) that the best performance is spring and autumn rather than the heat of summer or as per this year the wet of summer. All panels should initially put out more than name plate rating becase the rating is meant to be after a couple of years. My camping panel is a kyocera which I bought before doing much research and I am happy to say after 3 years it still punches out more than the 100W it is rated at. I notice a huge difference in output if it is just placed on the ground or supported on a couple of saw horses to get some air under it. On the roofrack it appears there is enough circulation because according to the monitor it cracked more than 100W at times.
