  • Wanted 2" lift kit or part thereof for 95 Series.

Still looking for a cost effective solution to needing a lift kit. Had some medical expenses prevent me from buying new but can definetly do a second hand set... even if someone has springs and i get the shocks or vice versa.

Can pay postage to Melbourne or pick up in Victoria.

What sort of budget are we looking at?

I'm open to ideas mate. essentially if i was to buy new... it would be some cheap no name kit that I'd refuse to use. I guess all up I need to keep it under 500 for front and rear... which is why I'm looking at 2nd hand.

What have you got in mind?

I got my 2" lift dobinson springs and shocks all-round fitted for $1000 here in Brisbane, i'm not sure of the price if you wanted to fit them yourself, would clearly be under that.

I have been very happy with them.

Yeah unfortunately that is a bit out of my price range. But i will keep looking as I will do the install myself. I've been warned that the rears can be bastard but I've had a look in the past and i dont see what's difficult.

Just put coils? & reuse shocks? For now?

            That's ridiculously cheep.
The Prado kit it 960+ freight.
            $3000-500 is usual fitting charges.
            Usually $1300 -1400
I do 1200 pp discounted, which I thought was great value.

What are the potential negatives of reusing my shocks with lifted springs? I won't lower a car more than an inch without new shocks and i know that the prado will have longer travel shocks then a car anyway... but could I really get away with it for a few months? I know I'm doubling my work load but that's not a major issue for me as I do everything on the hoist at work and it gives me an excuse to go in and change over any bushes that are starting to come due.

the guy that helped me said the issue is access to the top of the rear shocks becasue they go behind the fuel tank, apparently very hard to get to

From what I understand, this will be fine. You just won't be able to flex as well as the shocks will limit the travel.
